First onedayer -- Aussies v World XI

World XI squad has just been announced:

World XI team to play Australia in the first of three one-day matches at the Docklands Stadium on Wednesday.
Gayle and Ntini miss out and Vettori is likely to be super sub

Team: Shaun Pollock (capt), Virender Sehwag, Kumar Sangakkara, Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Brian Lara, Kevin Pietersen, Andrew Flintoff, Daniel Vettori, Muttiah Muralitharan, Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi.

Afridi is the only opener alongwith Sehwag and he is certain to play at least the FIRST ODI as n opener:)

Let’s hope he lives upto expectations, according to S Rajeh’s numbers game Afridi turned out to be the MOST valuable player. He has taken most number of wickets (10) with economy close to 4 against this Aussie team and also averages around 32 with astonishing strike rate of 160+ against current Aussie bowlers:eek:

Hope we get an encore performance of Hobart, i.e. 50 off 26 balls. He sent Lee and McGrath all over the ground. :)

lets hope so. it could be sangakara and sehwag with afridi being the super-sub :p

YOU are right Jack, Gavaskar mentioned that Sehwag will open with Sangakkara and Afridi will bat down the order, he will have to fight for a spot with Vettori and i m sure Afridi will be preferred over Vettori because he is a better batsman and almost as good bowler as Vettori against Aussies.

Vettori will be the SUPER SUB :-)

They showed some footage of The world xi having a hit out in the nets. Flintoff, Pieterson, Lara and Afridi were hitting as far as they could off the spinner. Guess who hit the furthest.

Pieterson and Flintoff could hit it around 80 metres. Lara hit one that they measured to 95 metres. And Afridi, yes the freak, cleany hit the bowler 120 metres on the full!!!

This guy is such a clean hitter he has a gift. If Australia is to loose the series it will be because of Afridi

afrida is no doubt the most hardest striker of the cricket ball...although symond and inzi r not far away...afridi bhai to niswaar kha kar mast ho jatay hai yeh koi phusto movie dekh kar josh ajata hai

I think the worst tailender will probably selected as a supersub for a batsmen who is a pretty bad fielder.
Possibly Murali for Lara.
