Captain1 Bhai,
Why do you think I used the word PRE, and sorry no points for guessing the right answer.![]()
Re: First ODI double century
Sehwag and Gilchrist are the world's only power batsmen that have the temperament to last long enough for 200.
that doesn't mean either will do it....just that they are probably the only 2 that have a realistic chance.

Re: First ODI double century
I can't believe that 17 people think Afridi can do it. He just does not have the temprament to stay that long. Maybe against Holland or Kenya?
Only Gilchrist has the temprament to stay that long and score it.
BTW I voted none, as I dont think it is possible.
Gilly is getting old. Though, he still got the power but it ain't consistent.
Afridi has a good chance only if he learns when to be defensive.
As Ehsan bhai said, I've to agree with him, it's impossible but if you ask me one person, just don't kill me over this argument. As much as I hate to say this, I think Graeme Smith has gotta chance to do it.
Re: First ODI double century
thatâs a wrong assumption to begin with. He does not need to stay long; the only thing he has to do it to face around letâs say 80 deliveries. Buss⌠that will do the job ![]()

Re: First ODI double century
Let's have a look at the possible candidates country-wise :-
Australia
Gilchrist - very very likely, important how he bats after 15 overs are completed.
Ponting - dark horse according to me, can be explosive as India learnt in the WC final.
Symonds - if he gets in early or gets promoted in the batting order, 200 can be a piece of cake for this guy.
New Zealand
Fleming - unlikely but I have to mention someone from NZ
Astle - very capable but not aware of his current form and future in cricket.
Sri Lanka
Jayasuriya - towards the end of his career according to me but given the right circumstances he could very well do it.
Pakistan
Inzamam - world-class batsman and in splendid form, bats 50 overs easily, difficult to dislodge when set and can hit the big shots.
Afridi - If he bats for 30 overs he can score 200.
England
Trescothick - against a lowly side on smallish English grounds could see Tresco scoring a double ton.
Flintoff - potentially dangerous but yet to prove he could accomplish something of this magnitude
West Indies
Gayle - Good chances, has already made huge scores in ODI, could go the extra mile on his day.
Lara - personally feel he will do this if he is no longer the captain of WI
India
Tendulkar - not as explosive as he used to be, probably might not get there even if he bats the 50 overs.
Sehwag - prime candidate, but needs to learn to bat for at least 40-45 overs
South Africa
Gibbs - will score them if he does not get dehyrated or something, but a worthy contender
Smith - still young and extremely talented, fair chance
Kallis - best batsman of South Africa, does not score at a furious rate but that does not mean he does not have it in him to do so if he chooses.
Re: First ODI double century
i voted for afridi and sure he gonna do it some day:p
Re: First ODI double century
Considering the small size of the Caribbean grounds, I'd say Afridi has a good chance now assuming he doesn't do anything rash.
