I know this may seem odd, but what do you on the first day after the wedding. Do you get dressed and then go meet everyone and have breakfast or do you meet everyone and then get ready?

Oh yeah I need advice on that too - there is one day between my shaadi and walima so I'm wondering what to do. I'm thinking of getting dressed up in one of my kaam walay jorray, jewellery, make up etc before I even leave the room, then both hubby and I should make an entrance together like dulha dulhan.

I think it's up to you though - if you prefer no-fuss and are a relaxed bride then you could waltz in in your pj's!

From what I've seen, most brides would dress up, but not too heavily, before leaving the room. as in, they don't wear their heavy joras, but still something nice.

We were in a hotel so I didn't have to worry about that. And in the afternoon I had a hair cut appointment, so we just went straight to a cafe, had breakfast and then I had my haircut then we went to my in-laws. And since I was gonna be out (cafe and hair salon), I just wore a normal dress...no joras and jewellery.

I just wore my Pj's had breakfast and then went to get changed, but thats because my husbands family is very relaxed and I had discussed this with him the night before.

So its better to have cleared this up with your husband before u both sleep to see whats going to be acceptable, you dont want to do anything to offend anyone in the house on your first morning.

it also depends who is living in the house. if all the relatives are in the shaadi wala ghar maybe you should make more of an effort - need to find this out for myself actually hehee :cb:

That is a great idea but you know how everyone loves to gossip in Pakistan and you prob don't want to embarrass yourself on the first day by having everyone dressed up and you in your pj's, at the same time you don't want to be all dolled up while everyone is simply eating and thinking that you have to many "nakhre".

I just wanna know what is traditional, or what did you do?

well because its that tradition of Nashta aaing from Maika, so a bride stays in the room and people eventually come to meet her, so its, dress up and stay in your room, u k liye nashta aayega and you will have it in your room :slight_smile: Mashriki larki is supposed to be hayaa daar so it goes that way :blush:

there is nothing wrong if others are not dressed up and you being in a karha hua jora! you are a nayee naweli dulhan, and nayee naweli dulhan tayar hoi achhi lagti hay, poori zindagi kahan is tarha moqa milta hay ke nashta ki table p dulhan ban ke jao, so jo aik do din life main aisay aatay hain jo traditional hotay hain to i think un dino ko isi tarhan enjoy kerna chaye :) na ke ordinary days ki tarha PJ's main samnay ajaya jaye, sorry but being true, east main istarha ajanay ko besharmi aur behayai main shumar kiya jata hay!!

wese bhi shadi ke shuru ke dino main being hayadar is very natural i think!! I THINK..........am i right girls??

having veil & 15 kg duppata with God knows what kind a "kurhaai" its the worst part.

hmmmm, well my valima was the next day after the baraat, we had our rukhsati in the hotel, so my parents and some of his family members came over with breakfast. I wore a lightly embroidered shalwar kameez, nothing heavy or anything. At my devar's wedding, while we were all getting ready, the bride came over in the afternoon and was wearing a light saree...she looked cute.

Aww I love that! That's how I think! You're only a dulhan (if Allah wills) once in your life, so make the most of it. Inhi dino mein susaraal walay aapkay nakhray uthaa saktay hain! After that you're the bahu and things change (although hopefully not too much...!) But yeah, I'm planning to turn up all decked out and make an entrance to the breakfast table with the hubby lolz :P

Hayadaar comes from haya which means modesty. It is similar to sharam, although I can’t think of the English for sharam (we have a joke in our family that no-one can think of the English for sharam cus it doesn’t exist :cb:)

Well, I'll be in a hotel so the next morning I'll be having breakfast and going out with hubby coz it'll be his birthday. I'll be in regular easy clothes I guess. Then we'll come home and I'll have a surprise party organised (hopefully,lol), after that I'll change in a kaam wala jora and go out for dinner with him & in laws.. Next day walima..(InshaAllah)

Well day after my Baraat is my Husband's little brothers mehndi so I won't have time to be worrying about all this it'l be straight in to the next wedding (but then im gunna miss all the nayi naveli dulhab stuff aww) No ones guna really care about me and what im doing/wearing lol
