well lets hope Jindal is better than the goof ball Dosanj who became the governor of British Columbia and his son got into a fight in a night club and went to jail and his dad pulled some strings and got him out
it was a big issue and thus the first indian governor of canada had to resign after that scandal

^well all the media in the united states say that he is of Indian origin and there are Indian Christians too who might have converted from Hinduism but that doesn't make them any less Indian. If he openly talks about his Indian origins, how does that show that he doesn't give a damn for India?

Madam what is the big deal here if he is of Indian Origin. Its like Italian celbrating that Sonia became PM of India( If she does). Bobby Jindal is not gonna anything for India or Indian. He is just another bible-thumping Republican who doesnt care what India or Indian are. He was just born to an Indian parents. Thats it.... I would rather celebrate victory of any non-Indian who wants to something for India.

anyway, he is a republican and I don’t support a lot of his views on most issues but he is trying to make the us-india relationship more solid whether he is doing it for the sake of India or not, this will still end up being an advantage for India nonetheless.

You're right in that he is extremely conservative and some of his views on abortion, gun control and so many other issues are a bit scary for me and I personally would never vote for a politician with such extreme right views regardless of whether he has Indian origins or not.
But my first post above was in reply to you saying that he doesn't give a damn for India or Indians just because he left his Hind*U*(not Hindi like you said) religion and became a Christian. I didn't see why his religion should make him any less Indian since there are Christian Indians in India.

What does matter, is that an overwhelming majority of bible-humping conservatives elected a Brown man over a Black or White man in a state with very strong racial divide. That is why Desis are cheering - because the American dream includes people of Brown skin.
In 2005, the demographics of Louisiana stood at: 65% White. 33.5% Black. 1.5% Asian. 1% Native.

The exciting thing about this news is Bobby Jindal unlike Arnold Schwarzenegger is born in the US. Thus he will most likely run for President in 2016 or 2020. There is a good chance of him being a 2 term governor and by 2015 he will have his options open and if Hillary and Obama were in the White house till 2016 the Republicans will also want to match the Democrats by opening the field for non-white or female candidates and Jindal could be the young (45 in 2016) successful governor from the South seeking to bring the Republicans back in the White house after 8 years of Democrats.

Just look at the way Indians treat Pakistanis in USA
Lets see if a Pakistani can get a Dunkin Donuts or a Baskin Robbins or Subway franchise in USA...
they are all controlled by Indians and they don't sell to Pakistanis.....
All new franchises are sold by corporate and its not in the hands of other franchise owners who to sell. If you are trying to buy a unit which is already franchised, then the franchise owner(basically a operator because he does not technically own it) may decide the selling price(depending on sales history and projections) as well as who to sell to. Indians may own a significant percentage of franchises but it is still white and other ethnicities that own more than 50% of these franchises.
I do not know if Indians would care who operates their former business as long as they get a good price from it, but if your allegations have any inkling of truth, Pakistanis still can buy these franchises from non-Indian owners. Also new franchises are opened by corporate all the time so it should not stop Pakistanis from owning and operating them.

well even if he is a majorly confused American "desi", not every American desi born/raised in America or the west is like him and some of us actually have more culture in us than some desis that grew up in India:p. So let's not generalize

All this shows is how low standards have become in that state and what crappy choices they have.
It is one of the backward states of usa and I guess people are desperate to try anything.
