Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

Well , he is a active member of India Caucus.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

I have met and seen him in so many indian functions.
most of the people who work for him are indians/abcds.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

come on redneck segment of america.. this is where i need you. make me proud again.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)

Maybe he will make a good governor and is good at hwat he does. However, from a cultural POV, I dont' see why his name should come up in a "successful desis" type list, after all he made such an effort to change his name and religion and put his culture behind, to be associated w/ desis is probably teh last thing he wants.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

^^ this guy becoming a governor is bad news for Pakistan

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

^ after what the Indian ("origin") toxicologist tried to do in the West Indies Im convinced that is true. It is unfortunate, since I was beginning to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

I know a couple of people who know him on a personal level and they say he is smart and very ambitious. He got very good reviews from people who are not even Republicans. Last time he lost with a small margin, so he has a very good chance this time around. Even if he doesn't win you will see him on a national level pretty soon.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

Pakistanis in Lousiana raised money for Blanco last time, and made sure that Bobby Piyush Jindal doesnt win. I am sure Pakistanis this year would be doing the same.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

^^ they dont have that much influence...

Just look at the way Indians treat Pakistanis in USA

Lets see if a Pakistani can get a Dunkin Donuts or a Baskin Robbins or Subway franchise in USA...

they are all controlled by Indians and they don't sell to Pakistanis.....

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

errrrr how are they controlled by Indians?

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

^^ they are all owned by Indians

The Territory managers are mostly Indians

And thus when a Pakistani or somebody else wants to buy a Subway or Dunkin Donuts franchise they submit a business plan and financial statements

The business plan and financial statements are only approved by the territory managers who are mostly Indians and thus they have the power to approve or reject potential buyers

And if you go to USA, most if not all of Subway, Dunkin Donuts, or Baskin Robbins are owned by Indians

Even Senator Joe Biden of Delaware said, "you need an Indian accent when you are buying Dunkin Donuts"

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

You're kidding me right...is that all you got? He is bad because all his relatives work at Dunkin Brands? Did poor pops get rejected by Jindal's third cousin? Whatever your reason for disliking Dunkin Brands may be, at least don't bring Joe Biden into this - for all he knows you Pakistanis have Indian accents too.

Indians will always be bad for Pakistanis as long as there are more Indians in America. Just like Jews will be bad for Nazis as long as there are more Jews in America. It's a numbers game. The only reason Indian votes matter more than yours, is because they have more ballots come election time.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

Arent most gas stations owned by Pakistanis?

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

Two of my uncles own Subway franchises. One is NYC and one in Maryland. They're Pakistani as far as I know.

Bigotry on the Bayou?

Two months ahead of the primary elections, The Louisiana Democratic Party has sprung a hard-hitting TV ad accusing Republican GOP gubernatorial candidate Bobby Jindal of disparaging Protestants as “scandalous, depraved, selfish and heretical.”

The 30-second TV spot running in the heavily Protestant districts of Northern Louisiana, accuses Jindal of mocking the “the beliefs of Baptists, Methodists, Episcopaleans, Pentacostals and other Protestant religions.”

The Democrats have also established a website, www.jindalonreligion.com, reproducing his religious writings published between 1994 and 1998, mostly in the New Oxford Review, a self-described orthodox Roman Catholic magazine.

The articles trace Jindal’s personal journey from Hinduism to Catholicism, but in some sections he takes jabs at other religions. In one article titled “From New Delhi to Rome: Reflections of a Seven-Year-Old Catholic” on a Protestant service, he writes: “I was disappointed by a mildly interesting sermon delivered by a part-time preacher who reminded me of, and may have been, a used car salesman; the cheap theatrics failed to entertain, much less inspire me.”

Jindal details his personal struggle with his Hindu parents when he switched his faith and in an article in the Catholic Dossier, titled “East Meets West: Hinduism and Christianity,” he explores the theological differences between the two religions.

The TV ad charges: “Most Americans believe we should respect one another’s religion, but not Bobby Jindal. He wrote articles that insulted thousands of Louisiana Protestants.”

Jindal has denounced the ads as political dirty tricks that take his comments out of context, although he has also acknowledged that the writings reflect an “immature mind” and that his understanding of faith has matured and changed since.

Most commentators view the ad as a desperate attempt by Democrats to close the wide gap Jindal has built over his rivals in Louisiana’s open primary, scheduled on October 20.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

Well, Bobby dunnit! The next Governor of Louisiana will be an American of Indian origin.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

Now wait for Indian Media to go gaga over it. They will be so proud of a son of the soil who became Gov of a US state without giving any thought to that he doesnt give damn to india, He has left his Hindi relegion and became christain and has been to India only few time.

Nothing succeeds like success.

Re: First Indian-American governer in US (Louisiana)?

^well all the media in the united states say that he is of Indian origin and there are Indian Christians too who might have converted from Hinduism but that doesn't make them any less Indian. If he openly talks about his Indian origins, how does that show that he doesn't give a damn for India?

Indian media should be proud and go gaga over this news! :)
