First day of school of firstborn

 How many of you were scared out of your minds yourself?? Is it just me? How was it?

Any ritual or custom you recommend?

Re: First day of school of firstborn

I taught in the same building but I was scared too. It's natural to not be scared.
How to help yourself and the child? Keep the goodbye short. Tell him you will come to pick him up after lunch(or whatever is the last activity) leave him with his water bottle and if school permits a small snack (in case he doesn't like school snack). Show him his cubby, his name, etc. It gives children sense of ownership. (You can visit his class with him a day before and show him around if you haven't).
All the best! Inshahallah he will be just fine.

Re: First day of school of firstborn

i wasnt scared but was definitely nervous! needlessly it turns out. she didnt even turn to look back at me or said bye .. lol!
my daughter was 3.5 though. First time i tried to send her was at 2.5yo and that was a disaster ... she cried so hard she vomited. I tried two days only and stopped. she just wasn't ready.

i think we forget how resilient and resourceful kids are! they are perfectly capable of surviving and thriving without our 24/7 presence/surveillance .... just like we did and as did every generation before us.

I wasn't scared but felt really guilty. Took me a month before I felt okay with it.
The best way is to make sure the goodbyes are short and sweet.
