What was it and hwen ?
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
Mine was the screaming jelly baby experiment. You burn a jelly baby with your bunson burner and it screams i can't remember why but i rembercan still hear the screaming in my nightmares. haha. ONLY JOKING
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
Anamolous expansion of water (when cooled past 4 degree C)- reason why ice floats on water. Did not have a fridge at home - so really had not thought much about ice floating on water, even though may have seen it couple times while walking past restaurants. In 7th standard science class, leasrned this. Then observed it in real life. Wow moment
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
mine was a mangetic pen floating and boy was it magic
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
when we made water in the classroom with a "BANG!" haha
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
Years ago when i learned about the effects of a certian element... it made me value both science and human life and fear both of them in equal measure.
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
The speed of light.
"ek laakh chhiyasi hazaar meel fi sekind".
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
Wave-particle duality, suddenly E=mc^2 became as clear as day.
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
I think it was one of those wave chapters in which I learned prisms and their effect of splitting light.
Also another: saw and then made a kaleidoscope..that was so cool!! :)
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
.. the litmus paper test and how the change of colours look awesome as a kalaidascope of c****olours:mudhosh:.. I was about 15 methinks.. a long time ago:hinna:
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
I was blown away by the static electricity thing
balloon + hair?
I was grossed out when we first disected a sheep’s heart. Good thing I chose science, not medicine
Most recently, I’m intrigued by the operation of some of the instruments I’ve been training on in the lab. So sophisticated, it’s amazing! Engineers get a bit of credit for that too!
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
Umm..maybe the baking soda volcano thing

Lol I was just about to post that.
Also that thing where you make holes at the bottom of a can and one near the top, and when you fill it with water and seal the hole at the top water stops flowing out the bottom holes. A kid did it at show and tell and I thought it was pretty cool.
Another science thing I really liked was when I made a periscope as a science project, it was pretty cool and I was using it to peer around corners for days.
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
one word - magnets!
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
Gravity - as a toddler, when a ball I threw up in air came back down :D
Understood the science behind it years later.
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
let me guess... explored the intricacies of fluid mechanics via peeing into the wind as well?
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
Did not give a crap about science till I learnt about the Special Theory of Relativity in 9th grade. Totally blew my mind off.
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
I hate magnets. You would too if you took a brand new magnet set to school and the Nigerian guy who sat next to you in Arabic class asked you to hand it over or else ![]()
Re: First cool science thing you learned/saw
Ace that made me choke on my drink dude. ![]()
I remember first science lesson when they let us loose with Bunson Burners bad idea… some fella thought it would be funny to put a lighter by the gas tap… He made a classroom flamethrower… ![]()
But that was nothing as out Teacher went to sort him out another kid turned the middle of his Bunson burner and the flame shot up catching the teachers tie… ![]()
Three students got expelled on the one afternoon… funniest **** that ever happend at school… ![]()

We used to do that with deodorants. Good mosquito annihilator.
