Mohammad Asif will miss at least the first three matches of the ODI series against India with a long-standing elbow problem, the Pakistan board announced on the day of the team’s departure to Delhi.
Re: First Blow, Asif Out of 3 ODIs
Can we have atleast one tour/tournament where everyone is F'n healthy?!!
I can't remember the last time our bowling attack was in full force. Its like they take turns to be out of the playing eleven.
Re: First Blow, Asif Out of 3 ODIs
And don't count on Akhtar playing the entire India series either. If Shoaib breaks down it's understandable (to a certain extent) but why are Gul and Asif (missed most of the Englnd series last year) so injury prone? They are not express pace, neither is their run-up very long. No wonder Lawson believes that it will take something like 11 or 12 months for these players to achieve his desired level of fitness. To their credit Imran Khan (apart from those 2.5 years) and the two W's (Akram played something like 360 ODIs!) were never plagued by fitness problems on this scale which leads me to conclude that the no. 1 blame lies with the players themselves.
Re: First Blow, Asif Out of 3 ODIs
Elbow problems don't easily go away, especially for fast bowlers. Asif should forget about this series and have surgery instead.
