First Bangladesh mutiny verdicts

**A court in Bangladesh has sentenced 29 border guards to jail terms of up to seven years for involvement in a mutiny that killed dozens of army officers. **Those convicted in northern Panchagarh district were not directly involved in the killing in Dhaka, but supported the February 2009 rebellion.

These were the first verdicts delivered by the special tribunal, which is holding proceedings across Bangladesh.

About 3,500 hundred border guards are being tried.

More than 70 people, most of them officers, were killed during the uprising by troops unhappy with their pay and conditions. This article is from the BBC News website. © British Broadcasting Corporation, The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites.

Re: First Bangladesh mutiny verdicts

Funny. They never put on trial those East Pakistan Rifles (the previous name for the Bangladesh Rifles) who mutinied against and killed their officers in 1971.

So true.

This is what we call "selective justice".
