Re: First Aid

I will do :D

Re: First Aid

Sprain: ice pack first 24 hours. Alternate with hot & cold pack thereafter.
Burn (minor): cool the burn under cold water. Loosely wrap with sterile gauze.
Cuts & Scrapes: stop the bleeding by applying pressure. Apply a topical antiseptic. Cover with bandaid or bandage.

more to come.

Re: First Aid

What I remember from taking a first aid course about 5 years ago is:

Danger - check the location to make sure there is nothing around to hurt you or the injured person
Response - check them for a response to see if they are conscious or not by calling their name and/or shaking their shoulders lightly

Airway - make sure their airway isn't blocked
Breathing - check to see if they are breathing by placing your check above their mouth
Circulation - check their pulse

Also the recovery position is important if someone is unconscious.

Re: First Aid

For those that may not know, below I have listed a few details of the recovery position.

An unconscious person without other injuries and a resonable heartbeat should be put into the recovery position also known as coma position. It involves the person laying face down with the limbs spread out. This position minimises the risk of impeded breathing, and allows vomit or other liquid obstruction to drain out. Do not use this position if you suspect a spinal injury, or the casulty is not unconscious.

Re: First Aid

The First Aid means those aid which comes at first e.g any person got an injury and the person who give you the first aid before any proper medical aid come. In simple words, first aid means to keep the injured man alive till the regular or proper medical aid come.

Re: First Aid

I have taken first aid courses a few times and they have changed some stuff, now they teach the use of AED. For anyone with heart condition, it would be good to invest in AED. Survival rates of CPR are much lower then AED and you end up breaking ribs in CPR.
