Re: First Aid/Treatments at Home

Guaze,
cotton
bandage
Ban-Aid
Tripple antibiotics (if not allergic to)
Ice pack/hot pack
Tape-cotton tape are better
stretchable bandage
benedryl cream
1% hydrocortisone cream
gatorade
hydrogen peroxide to clean wound.
Alcohol swab-but it may burn the wound.
clean sharp scissor-clean it with alcohol or peroxide first if touching the skin.

medical superglue is also available- but have to be careful. if skin is not approximated then it leaves a bigger scar and you cannot separate the skin after superglue is applied. Don't use it if at all possible on face or near eye. A small stitch is better sometimes.

Keep wound dry with guaze with tripple antibiotic. Not cotton since it sticks.
Try to put back clean skin back on wound.

Try not to take imodium/loperamide or anything to stop diarrhea Just drink fluids. Most diarrhea are self limited

vomiting is difficult to treat at home if excessive. Needs prescription or check up. If fluid can be taken then try sips. No cola or caffiene though.

Burn needs immediate cold compresses-try not to pop the bubbles. But bubbles are made if cold compresses are not done quickly.

For nose bleed use ice pack. Do not use aspirin for pain since it may cause more bleeding. Just tylenol.
At times you can pack nose with vaseline and small guaze. Take it out soon. some people forget and it gets infected badly. ( just like some women forget tampons)

See a doctor if large burn or cut.
