Afghanistan’s new cabinet is the first in 30 years to be based on a parliamentary contest.
Abdullah Abdullah kicked out. He wasn’t good for new Afghanistan anyway.

Afghan foreign minister loses job**
**Afghan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah has been dropped in President Hamid Karzai’s first reshuffle since parliamentary elections last autumn. ** Dr Abdullah is to be replaced by Dr Rangeen Dadfar Spanta, the president’s former adviser on foreign affairs.
The cut-size cabinet has no seat for Dr Abdullah who led foreign policy before and after the Taleban in the 1990s.
The new cabinet contains 25 ministers, and all major ethnic groups have seats. Each minister must be approved by MPs.
The list was confirmed within hours of the deadline set by the Afghan constitution after elections six months ago.
The BBC’s Bilal Sarwary in Kabul says Dr Abdullah’s replacement comes as a surprise - reports say he was offered several lesser posts but refused them.
Only one former warlord, Herat’s Ismail Khan, keeps his seat in the cabinet, which our correspondent says retains a reasonable ethnic balance.
Just one women is represented in the cabinet - new women’s affairs minister Dr Suraya Rahim Subrang.
She replaces Massouda Jalal, who stood against Mr Karzai in presidential elections in 2004. Two other cabinet rank women lose their seats.
** Corruption **
Afghanistan’s new cabinet is the first in 30 years to be based on a parliamentary contest.
Merging smaller ministries means it has four fewer seats than the one composed of unelected ministers which the president picked when a parliamentary poll was delayed by security fears last year.
Mr Karzai faced accusations in the past that certain key jobs were allocated to satisfy competing tribes and ethnic groups.
Observers say what Afghans hope the new cabinet can deliver is an end to ethnic infighting and corruption.
Re: First Afghan cabinet in 30 long years: Congrats
yeah…make sure they come out of their cabinet every now and then to see wht really happens in the REAL AFGHANISTAN. such pussy cabinets are nothing but that. they are there to PLEASE no one but their masters. a common person won’t get anything but a bullett in his/her head and thats that. neither karzai was elected by ppl of afghanistan nor this cabinet represents them. their problems and struggle will continue.
Re: First Afghan cabinet in 30 long years: Congrats
^^only Kabuli Kommies can turn this historic event into a a pathetic sloganeering against one party or the other.
You guys have no idea how badly Afghanistan has suffered due to Soviet invasion. Your aim is to malign one party or the other while totally ignoring the immense sacrifices of Afghani people.
It is time to celebrate. Eat Drink and send cheers to Kabul.
Re: First Afghan cabinet in 30 long years: Congrats
Actually Soviets were prodded into afghanistan due to American partnership with jihadis (jihadis were operating from 77-78 much before the soviets invaded). Americans wanted a revenge of vietnam and they got it except at the cost of Afghanistan.
Commie run afghanistan was developed and education was its mainstay but kochis didn't like the fact that women were getting much more freedom and wearing modern clothes and instead revolted!
If you have the right leaders then you can succeed. Look at the commie run China. Then look at Pakistan (capitalist, american ally), saudis, s. america and compare their might to china.
Re: First Afghan cabinet in 30 long years: Congrats
soomro why the hate for kochis. They are the original and true Afghans/Pashtuns. Initially some of the things the commies did wer good, however they too diverted and started indulging in stuf unhealthy for Afghanistan adn plus it was the cold war, they made Afghanistan into the battlefield for the two idealogies.
Re: First Afghan cabinet in 30 long years: Congrats
actually I was’nt talking to you, I’ve read a few Afgan message boards and the buggers are only about 1/10th as civilized as u
Ive read more than a few dozen or so page insult fests with slurs directed at everyone from Tadjiks, Uzbeks, Hazaras, Pashtuns, Punjabis, hindus,
Its amazing how divisive you people are (sorry dont mean to be rude) you make Pakistanis look like the English in terms of working togeather, and thats really saying something
Re: First Afghan cabinet in 30 long years: Congrats
Yeh some forums can be brutal. We joke about them amongst ourselves as well. However there are respectable ones, just like with any other forums. Khyberwatch is a mature one, and so is pashto.org. I mean you have the hotheads, but atleast they are willing to listen to your side, About those few guys/girls, ye they bug me as well, every third thing has to do with "paki this, irani this...", so I can understand your frustration. However, just as many pakistani forums are immature.
Re: First Afghan cabinet in 30 long years: Congrats
Well I've met good Afghans and bad ones. I know one middle aged Pashtun guy from Kandahar who is an engineer, he's a really decent guy. But most of the Afghan refugees here these days are Hazaras and they would try killing you if they know you are Pashtun.
Though generally speaking I find this "tribalistic" us and them society is ingrained in the 3rd world mind. It creates tremendous barriers to growth and development. Most obviously you can see that in Afghanistan since who knows when and these days its painfully obvious in Iraq.
Re: First Afghan cabinet in 30 long years: Congrats
You complain about Pakistan you insult Pakistan, yet you forget we clothed, fed and housed over 7 million afghans over a period of 15 years. So much for having manners and showing muslims who cared for you respect.
Re: First Afghan cabinet in 30 long years: Congrats
Because kochis couldn't fathom the longterm benefit that would have come with women getting an education or development in their area so they could settle down instead of hopping around in misery / depended on nature for their fortunes.
It is about using a brain not my hatred of kochis.
