JHELUM: Eight people were injured on Sunday when gunmen opened fire at workers making their way to a Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) rally in Jhelum, police said.
The injured have been rushed to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Jhelum. Two of the eight are seriously injured.

Aqeel Ahmed, a technician at the emergency ward, told Dawn.com that one person in critical condition, who sustained a bullet injury in the chest, has been shifted to another hospital as the DHQ Jhelum does not have the facilities to treat him.
Ahmed said the remaining injured activists have sustained injuries in the lower limbs.
The incident took place in Gharmala, about 5 km away from the Syed Zameer Jaffery Stadium Jhelum — the venue set for the PTI’s rally today — when large numbers of PTI workers were en route to the stadium.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the District Police Officer (DPO) Jhelum over the incident.
A large number of PTI activists have gathered outside the hospital where the injured have been taken.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan earlier this month announced rallies all over the country as part of his campaign to oust Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against the backdrop of his party’s rigging allegations in the last year’s historic elections.
“An overwhelming majority in the PTI believes that the stage is set to further party’s popularity among the masses because it has been receiving a massive response from the people since the launching of Azadi March on Aug14,” a member of the committee had told Dawn earlier.

This is really sad state of affairs, but as per reality on the ground, this is the next level after the abuses... this should be stopped, but i know no one is going to listen, to IK every body is bad and this is the response of the bad people....
I remember reading something about Abraham Lincoln, he used to criticize others in harsh manner and one day, one of the politician against whom Mr. Lincoln spoke/wrote came and challenged him for a duel... To USA's luck Abraham Lincoln won that duel but he changed his way of criticizing others in harsh manner..
Now i don't know how true that incident was, but i sure says a lot about talking about other people....

No, but this is what is going happen now… surely.. PTI leadership is also calling for it.. the other day, Shk Rasheed openly said, kill or die… kill whom… obviously he didn’t meant TTP or other enemies of Pakistan… he meant either govt agencies or members of other parties…
this was bound to happen… there is reason why certain mullas are banned during Muharam…

It didn't happen at any road of Jhelum or near the Jalsa place

I was wondering when will IK be blamed for firing on his own rally as well....not disappointed :)

I hope that one day Ghairat of Thug Nawaz would stand up and he would challenge Imran for a one to one duel ... and we will have another story comparable to Abraham Lincoln ...
For a moment I thought that after demise of Thug Nawaz, ghairat of Zardari would stand up too and another history of Abraham Lincoln would be written, but my inner self told me that how can Ghairat of Zardari would stand up, when Zardari was not even born with something called ghariat, so there is no chance for Imran to write the history twice.

Thugs and crooks of PMLN/PPP would never leave power and would keep using police, judiciary, bureaucracy and their own Gullus to victimize anyone challenging their power. With them in power, asking for free and fair election is 4 letter word. So, to get rid of these rascals, one option is army if they act, but if army would keep sleeping than people would have to take everything in their own hands with lots of bloodshed (as happens all over the world in such situation).

Actually I was not in mood to defend the PML N man
But perhaps no one is aware of Jhelum here
The Village where this all happened is few kilometers away from Jhelum city .
You can call it suburbs
Even the home of the PML N leader is not on the main road of the village
So a small crowd did this foolishness
The culture of our villages is little different
Muqadama jeetnay , Election jeetnay , Even Shadi biah par mukhalfon kay ghar kay samnay 'show' karany par aksar aisay jhagray ho jatay hain
You can not call it some planning by both sides
