Adding add-ons costs some extra memory.Try removing the add-ons

I'd also advise that you check to see if you have any unnecessary extensions and/or add-ons that you've installed which you can get rid of. This might improve performance somehat.
If your sole objective is to reduce the amount of memory FF uses, then try these simple hacks:
type **about:config **in the browser window, and add these two configuration options:
**browser.cache.memory.capacity **as a new integer... and specifiy an integer value in KB. This should be a factor of your RAM size - on my laptop with 2GB of RAM, I've set this to 20000.
config.trim_on_minimize as a new boolean... and set this to true. This will reduce firefox memory usage when you minimize the application.

Download Firefox Optimizer. An excellent utility to counter that problem.
it worked! now firefox is consuming around 5k! without even touching my add-ons!

ok.Mines takes around 40,000K upto 80,000K So that is normal right?No need to install FF optimizer?

^ depends, if it slows down your browsing experience then you should. I got 4 gigs RAM so even 400M consumed by firefox doesn't make much difference, but it wasn't normal.
