Firefox problem

Hi Folks,

I love Firefox so much and had been using only it after comparing it with all other browsers like IE, safari, chrome. but very recently I’ve noticed a problem with FF and that is really bothering me now.
And that is, when I turn on my laptop and double click on the FF icon, it takes forever to get initiated. However, if it doesnt show up and I click it again, the two windows of FF get popped up quickly. So everytime I have to open two windows now to get it done quickly.

The enabled plugins I’ve got are for Adobe Acrobat, Java TM platform SE 6, Mozilla Default plugin, Picasa and shockwave flush. Thats about it.

Can someone please give me an advise on how can I curtail this overhead time and save me from waitingggggggggggg… ??

Thanks.

Re: Firefox problem

How much RAM you have? I think its taking too much time to page other processes out of RAM and load FF. You might think about increasing your RAM.

2nd option can be to reinstall FF.

3rd is to defragment your hard drive.

4th is to use software like CCleaner to remove all temporary files from browser cache.

Try this first and see if there is any significant difference.

I've 2 GB RAM but that shouldnt be a problem as I've much heavier tasks getting done without any problem.
Previously i've cleared the cache but that didnt improve anything.

I can uninstall and reinstall the firefox but isnt there any better solution?!

Re: Firefox problem

I would suggest that you completely uninstall Firefox and download the latest version and install it. That would probably remove issues with the configuration if that's what's causing the lag.

Re: Firefox problem

^^ can you define what does completely uninstall means?

even if you use its uninstaller many registry keys, temp data and profile data do not get removed.

Re: Firefox problem

You can manually edit the registry by searching for Mozilla named keys. Or you could use a utility like "Uninstall Plus v3.9" to automatically remove these values.

Hey Folks,

As some of you suggested, I uninstalled the firefox completely and downloaded it again.

And guess what..

now its opening withing 10 secs..

WOW.. i'm soo happy now.. I didnt have any other complaint except this so when it is removed, Im glad to be back on track. I couldnt wait that long for a browser to open. Rest is great with FF.
Ya I've tried almost every browser including chrome but I think FF is still the best!
