Firefox bookmarks gone !

Hi!

I have been using Firefox for the last couple of months and have bookmarked many sites during this but today when i launched Mozilla Firfox i can’t find any of my bookmarked pages in it. Where have they all gone ? It still has the download history but there is no sign of my bookmarks.

Any help guys ?

try this :
Close Firefox browser

open task manager > Processes

kill all process(es) named : firefox.exe

start firefox again. and see if they show up?

manually check the bookmarks.html file here

c:\program files\mozilla firefox\defaults\profile

^ there are some bookmarks but they are only 4-5 dunno where the rest have disappeared ?

i believe you have somehow deleted your old profile. check the recycle bin, it may still be there. if not then good luck, i dunno the answer.

Presuming that u are using XP,

Goto

C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

& you will see another folder with some strange name .. go into that folder & check if your bookmarks are there or not.

^ there is no Mozilla nor Firefox folder in Application Data folder.

Run the Profile Manager [in windows: Start | Run | type firefox.exe -p | ok] and choose the default profile.

Always backup ur Bookbarks Bookmarks >> Manage Bookmarks >> File >> Export.

Sh3rY ], how do i select a profile ? It doesn't say anything about selecting profile when run from RUN command.

DaPakiGuy, I know we should always make backup of our bookmarks but how come all my bookmarks are automatically vanished ?

Its actually not in Local Settings. This is the location:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

Just thought I’d throw that in.
