I was looking for some details and hopefully some pics about the kind of firearms introduced by Babur at panipat
Unfortunately I know very little about this subject this is what I do know
- Muskets and artillery he brought remained essentially the same till time of Aurangzaib
- Muskets where matchlocks
- Muzzleloaders heavy cannons with brass barrels
- A foundry was formed at Akbar’s time to cast them
My specific questions are
what was the organisation and distribution of these weapons amongst the army
were any special troops designed to operate them or were the muskets standard issue to the infantry
to what extent did they replace the bows as the standoff weapon
what tactics were used best to exploite these weapons
was there a fixed artillery park or cannons casted on the spot(sometimes the ottomans did that)
