I heard on a Islamic TV programme that Abel :as: and Cane offered sacrifices to Allaah :swt: in a fire.. Was this really the accepted form of Sacrifice in the olden days? Do Jews/Christians believe this as well or just Muslims?
Sounds a lot like the sacrifices offered to Agni.. Makes you think maybe the Vedas were originally divine texts later altered and things like demi-gods added to them (overtime sacrfices that were originally meant for Allah/Eloh were offered to Agni itself)..

Actually the Canaanites (قومِ کنعان) used to offer sacrefices of children to fire .. also criminals used to be burned as well, and the place used to be a garbage dump with all kinds of filth…
Ironically the name of the place where this used to happen was a valley a few kilometers away from Jerusalem, and was called GaHannom (جہنّم) or the “Valley of Hannom”.
You can notice the similarity of the names for Cane/کنعان as well.
The allegory of Hell in the Quran is given in the form of Naar-i Jahannam to point this out that those deserving Hellfire are criminals.

And they built the high places of Baal to burn their children with fire as burnt offerings to Baal, which I did not command, neither did I speak nor did it enter My mind. Therefore, behold days are coming, says the Lord, when this place will no longer be called Topheth or Ben-Hinnom Valley, but the Valley of Slaughter.
