I’m throwing a small baby shower for SIL, but the way that the logistics work out, we can only do a dinner. Now the fun shower foods are more suited for brunch, lunch or tea time. I’ve got plenty of ideas for appetizers and dessert, but not for the main course. Any suggestions on different foods for the shower that would feel filling and appropriate for dinner?
It’s not going to be very big, 10-15 people, so I should hopefully be able to manage some unusual stuff.

You can do something Mediterranean. How about this:
Stuffed grape leaves along with shrimp
Pita bread wedges or pita pockets with served with a bowl of hummus
Falafel patties (If you want to include meat, you can include boneless grilled meat, or even chicken wings)
Garden salad or tabouleh
For desert, you can have baklava
^The guests can even assemble their own sandwich for dinner by stuffing the pita bread with falafel, salad, and humus.
You can go **Mexican **as well:
Put out a stack of tortillas
In separate dishes, put out baked beans, shredded chicken, cheese, olives, peppers, salsa, sour cream, guacamole.
^ These things won't require much cooking time. The veggies just need slicing. Other ingredients just need to be put into a container and served. The guests can assemble their own soft taco.
Desi finger food that can also be used for meal:
Shami kababs
yogurt based salad such dehi baray or chana chaat
boneless chicken dish. maybe skewered chicken tikkas. Or boneless chicken with curry.
pakoray/samosay
gold guppay
**Other ideas **for finger foods:
finger sandwiches
potato skins
chicken wings (kinda messy)
quiches
veggie platter/fruit platter
cheese and crackers platter
bread served with spinach artichoke dip
garlic bread
bruschetta
egg rolls
minni pizzas
egg salad/pasta salad
Re: Finger Foods for dinner? Need some creative suggestions!
Hows about having platters of: chicken wings, rolls, ribs etc and having a healthy fruit platter (fruit kebabs would work well for finger food) with some yummy dips.
