Hey.. i’m back again with the same dilemma. Need to put together a menu of finger food, sweet and savoury for Eid. I can bake and grill, don’t want to fry, and can’t make desi food. What should i make? I will have around 50 ppl visiting and have a small range of finger food, but would like any recipes or suggestions from you guys.
So far:
mini pizzas ( veg or chicken?)
chicken and mushroom pastries
aussie style meat pies
roast chicken
For sweets:
qulfi falooda
Drinks will be soft drinks, juices and tea/coffee.
Not much range huh? Hubby was saying to do lasagne, but it’ll be around brunch time, is lasagne suitable for that? Need some breakfast-y type of foods too i guess
mini quiches
mini bagel+cream cheese+ smoked salmon
fruit kabaobs
mini spanakopitas
mini chicken/tuna burgers/sliders
deviled eggs
bruschetta
quesadillas - fill with cheese only - or cheese + chicken/meat/veg
cocktail meatballs
dates filled with goat cheese (believe me its really good!)
mini muffins/breakfast pastries
lasagna is not really a finger food even in a roll up form …
why no desi food … how is it even eid without copious amounts of heart-stoppingly greasy but yummy desi food …
thanks for that, loving the idea for mini quiches, and breakfast pastries( can get them ready made).
I'm pathetic with desi food, there is no point, but everyone will have desi food at other places, so by the time they get around to my place they will be over it. The only thing i could really do i guess is like keema tikki or chicken tikki, but i will make tandoori flavoured roast chicken, i can do that.
I'm good at lasagne and ppl ask me to make it. I know it's not a finger food, i'll cut it up into smaller squares i guess. Where we live, it's a small pind, so everyone goes over everyone's place for like 1/2 hour, eats then moves onto the next house, and everyone usually has the same biryaani, salan etc.
Might even do salmon and avocado sushi??? Lots of the younger generation like that
stuffed mushrooms
sliders
jalapeno poppers (peppers stuffed with creamcheese, you can bake instead of frying)
chicken salad sandwiches with different herbs like dill or something to make it an unusual taste
mini quiches
mini cheese cakes/cupcakes
Sliders are mini burgers. Check out the link below for an example.
If you notice that there are some dishes of the same ingredient or that are very similar (I think chicken pastries and meat pies are similar because they both are a pastry stuffed with a meat filling) then you can do some eliminating.
the chicken ones are like triangles in white sauce, and the beef meat pies are gravy based and i make them in muffin tins, so the shape and taste is totally different.
Had a look at the sliders, they look interesting, thanks
