Finding a job

After what length of time do you start getting antsy about finding employment? I mean, if you haven’t found work in your field in say a few months, do you try to find something else to do in the meantime to keep yourself busy or wait until you find the right opportunity no matter how long it takes? I was out of work for about 8 months over 3 years ago and it was driving me up the wall but mashallah I found something good in my own field eventually after alot of effort and interviewing as well as luck too I suppose.

:smooth:

I usually let employers know that I am looking for temporary work when I am not doing something in my field. I feel guilty otherwise. So I have worked in fields that are not what I have wanted to do, for temporary periods, while looking for other jobs. I've even worked in fields that I dont think I would like, to see if I may like it and possibly make a career out of it. I have sat at home for months, and it was fine at one point, but later it just gets boring for me. I'd rather work or volunteer or something to occupy my time. smile

Munni I did some temp work in the meantime until I snagged a permanent position and I must say God works in strange ways because after a lull of about 8 months, I was made 2 job offers (both in HR) simultaneously and I chose to accept the one where I am at currently due to shorter travel distance and more $.

Depends on the person, their bank account and exigencies in life. That much should be commmon sense....might want to move it Health and Relationships. As most "obvious" threads go there.

Dude I believe for someone living with their parents the bank account has little bearing. The other aspects may have to do more with people wanting to be doing something and having problems been without jobs.

Matsui- if its so obvious and common sense, why post here?

Mats, how is the Manhattan job market faring these days?
