OK… I knew how to make Chai for years. After getting married whenever I made chai, everybody wanted a different kind. Hubby wanted a darker chai with less milk. First MIL wanted a lighter chai but then she demanded for a little darker than that lighter one. Now hubby wanted a little lighter than that darker one.
I figured they ll be ok with the standard kind. The one where milk and water are balanced along with Tea grains (Patti). But unfortunately, I have lost that estimate of balancing all these things. No matter how much I try and taste the chai while making it, something is always missing. I am no more able to make a perfect Chai. I want the flavor where you can feel the ‘patti’ flavor, not very light and not dark either and the milk and water flavor should also be balanced.
Is there any trick about the quantities of these things to make a perfect Chai.
Please share how do you make chai and how do you estimated the quantities.
Put some doday in it and they will love it and like it irrespective of color and texture. After a while they will pay you to make the chai for them and they will forget all the nakhra.
there is no right kind of chai.. everyone wants it differently! Either you make it the way they want it or everyone makestheir own tea!!
My husband likes doodh pati and I prefer darker chai with less milk.. we just make two separate teas.. I make mine first thought because I dun like the smell of milk in my tea and usually I am too lazy to wash in between!!
Also, some of my family wants the boiled tea (the one that you make on stove) and other half is perfectly okay with microwave tea.. we just make our own teas and it's no big deal at all!!
Haha. Honestly, I still don't know how to make a perfect chai. I make it for myself the way I like it. My mom likes tebag wali chai and my dad asks for chai only on Fridays (when he is at home), I make him chia the way I make it for myself. And when the guests are here, I don't offer them chai I always give them ready made cold drink :D
