Re: Finally the New Party
You said Pakistan had it’s AAP in the face of MQM. However, MQM started it off as a Muhajir Qomi Movement (a strictly ethnic campaign). Doesn’t really sound like AAP, or does it? MQM neither at the time of its inception nor at present or any point in their history ever managed to appeal to ‘common Pakistanis’ for their obvious ethnic hatred and mafia ways. That surely speaks volumes about their concerns for common Pakistanis? I’m not sure if this is also a case with AAP? Whatever political mileage MQM managed to get in Sindh was thanks to the blessing of Gen Zia, who at the time desperately needed to counter the regrouping of PPP.
But yes you are right, MQM (as well as Sharif brothers) was establishment’s trick to tackle the established party of the time - PPP. Otherwise I fail to see exactly where they have managed to break the castle of giant parties in Pakistan? It is the same old gun to gun fighting with PPP with control Karachi and nothing else.
