Finally, PCB hear all of us

Good decision by PCB but still not good enough. Pakistani Youth Cricketers desparately need training from their legends.

I just hope Miandad, Zaheer, Hanif Muhammad always be with us, whenever we need them. Ameen

Zaheer To Serve As Pak U-15 Batting Coach

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken another positive step of utilising the services and experience of its former greats by appointing Zaheer Abbas as batting coach of the Pakistan Under-15 team which will play in the Asia Cup next month.

According to a PCB press release, Zaheer, a former Pakistan captain and batting great will work with the Under-15 youngsters in Lahore on a three weeks assignment which will conclude on December 5.

The purpose behind appointing him is to ensure that the young players still in formative stage can learn a lot from a batting legend who scored 5,062 runs in 78 Tests and 2,572 runs from 62 One-day Internationals before calling it a day.

The Asia Cup for the under-15 players is being organised from December 7 to 21 in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Zaheer is also Chairman of the junior selection committee which will pick the Under-15 team.

In recent months, the PCB has already appointed former fast bowler Fazal Mahmood to work with the Under-15 players and the fast bowlers appearing in the Super League Ramazan Tournament in Lahore. While Little Master Hanif Muhammad has gone to Zimbabwe as batting coach of the Pakistan team.

Look, what Zaheer has to say!

Zaheer’s Coaching Stint For Under-15 Probables Commences

KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain and batting great Zaheer Abbas started his three weeks coaching stint with the Pakistan under-15 probables in Lahore and described it as a great feeling to be actively involved in the game again.

“I think the Pakistan board has taken positive steps by acquiring the services of former greats like Hanif Muhammad and Fazal Mehmood to coach the batsmen and bowlers and I am also enjoying my involvement with these youngsters,” Zaheer said.

“I would have liked a longer period to work with them. But still I consider what ever you invest in these young players it is not enough. As they represent our future.” Zaheer who is also the chief selector of the junior selection committee stated he would always be ready to take on any cricket assignment not for the sake of the Pakistan board but for Pakistan cricket.

“I owe a lot to Pakistan cricket for what I am today. I have no problems giving something back. I also took up this present assignment because I seriously feel these youngsters can learn a lot from my experience,” :k: said Zaheer known as the Asian bradman in his 76 Test appearances. The under-15 probables are being prepared for the Asia Cup being held in UAE in December.

I remember that Javed Miandad had been invited by the PCB for the same assignment around 2 months back. Miandad rejected the invitation because of an unappropriate financial package. He was offered Rs70,000 per week.

You have got to be kidding!

I don't think PCB offered him 70,000 per week. Miandad wanted 2 lakh Ruppes per month. Nevertheless, before departing from Pakistan, Miandad and Hanif Muhammad did show up and taught Cricketers Free.

Miandad and PCB deal has always been crucial.

PT bhai!
Do the math!
70,000 per week = 2.8 lakh per month, I think thats alot more Miandad was bargaining for!

That is correct but as I said eariler, there has always been crucial times b/w Miandad and PCB.

Plus, this is just on going talk without any specific links.

‘Coaching Stint With Pak Team Highly satisfying’](http://jang-group.com/thenews/nov2002-daily/23-11-2002/sports/s9.htm)

KARACHI: Pakistan’s batting legend Hanif Muhammad returned on Friday after his coaching stint with the Pakistan team in Zimbabwe and described the experience as well worth all the exhaustion and hard work.

The 67-year-old former Pakistan captain was assigned by the Pakistan Cricket Board to work as batting coach with the senior team for the four Tests in Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Confirming he would be submitting a detailed report on his coaching stint after the Tests in South Africa in which he would also discuss the batting techniques of individual players, Hanif said he had been pleased with the response by the players to his brand of coaching.

“I was not there to tell them about the basics of batting. Since they are not children, I tried hard to make them realize and understand the value of batting discipline in Test matches.” “We used to work everyday in the nets on a group and individual level and I kept on telling them that to be a successful batsmen one had to develop batting discipline and the right temperament.”

Hanif who played in 55 Tests for Pakistan earning the sobriquet of ‘Little Master’ for his stone-wall-like concentration, said he was satisfied with what he had managed to achieve in Zimbabwe.

“What was pleasing was that even the senior players gave me a lot of respect and were always keen to learn about their batting technique from me,” he added. He said that his trip was also worthwhile because some of the players in the team could not understand properly what coach Richard Pybus communicated to them at-a one to one basis. “These boys got nervous when spoken to on a one to one basis in English. My presence ensured that they understood everything when spelt out in Urdu.” :rotfl:

Pointing out that Pakistan’s batting problems have been there for a long time, Hanif said he was satisfied with the cooperation extended to him by captain Waqar Younis, Pybus and the manager Brigadier (retd) Khawaja Nasir. "Waqar, in fact, told me that I should try to return a few days before the Tests in South Africa so that I can start working with the boys and prepare them for the Tests in Durban and Capetown.

Hanif felt that after the Tests in Zimbabwe, some of the batsmen had started to realize the importance of adjusting their technique to different types of wickets and the value of patience. “I want to see how they do in South Africa where the opposition would be stronger and the pitches different,” he added.

I think if Javed Miandad asked so much money , he was not that wrong. Because if the cricket board can give millions to Bycot or foreign coaches so why not less money to one of the best in the game ?
