Final * India v Sri Lanka * Karachi * Jul 6, 2008

Walaikum congratulations.

Who knows Mendis and others may accept Islam in future, by the grace and mercy of Allah (swt). InshaAllah.

Inshallah indeed, infact going by his conduct he should at the very least be granted honorary citizenship of Pakistan!

make him the president ravage.

Gambir is a very good man for spin. I thought sending UV in after sehwag was rediculous. He is atrocious against spin.

I didnt say he ran away, I meant to say I didnt see him posting in this thread :smack:

Yes I was shocked when I saw Yuvi come in, told everyone hes gone this over and it was true. Mendis or any spinner, I would have been right.

I wouldn't say slap on the face at all. Sri Lanka is one of the better teams in cricket, they were finalists in the world cup remember?

Just because India was going through a purple patch, the Indian and Pakistani teams are pretty new, I think the strategy is to get these young guys ready for the next world cup. Better expect losing sometimes, even games that you should have won. And from your other post - I am not sure what claims Indian cricketers have made???

:hehe:

Who said that, maulana jaywardana.

Exactly. I was also telling the same thing. My wife was telling me that I jinxed him and have a kali zaban.
The management said they had studied mendis bowling. I think they need to study him more. Terrible work anyway.

A one-day game is won or lost in the middle overs (overs 15-35 or 40). You need someone like Miandad, Dravid, Kallis even Younis Khan etc. to build the innings in the middle overs who are all very deft at rotating the strike and at the same time capable of hitting the odd boundary here and there. After Sehwag's early onslaught, the required runrate had come down to a manageable 5 an over and there you needed someone like Dravid to play Mendis (not trying to take anything away from his superb effort) carefully and see off his overs. India's was more a twenty-20 side and they had no one apart from Dhoni who could play that sort of innings. The others were quite clueless against Mendis. Tendu will obviously come back but I can now also see Dravid even Ganguly coming back into the side for the 50-over games.

I strongly feel that the traditional 50-over game (and world cup) should stay because as we saw in the final it's not all tullah baazi unlike twenty-20. It does test your batting skills!

so was pakistan’s exit…don’t forget that … :chai:

^ nonsense.

not everything you recieve from God is "fazl". Some things are decidedly more negative, and under those circumstances, proclaiming what might well be God's wrath as His Grace might be a bit... loopy. To draw an extreme example, if someone was from say, the tribe of Hazrat Luut, and saw that flaming rock hurtling towards him, the last thing you would expect him to say would be "haza min fazle rabbi", even though it should be obvious from context that the rock itself is from the said source.

so then it comes down to your judgement as to what you feel is by the good graces of the Lord, such as His benevolence in granting the joy and euphoria of witnessing sunken indian hopes and dreams, and what you feel are His mysterious ways when the Pakistani team suffers from a hiccup or two.

I know we are only talking about the last 21 ODI finals here but that stat. can’t be true. They won the recent tri-series best-of-three finals in Australia. Add to that T-20 victory last year.

India like SLA has won Asia Cup 4 times although their last win was in 1995. Pakistan’s lone win was in 2000 when they beat SLA.

Add to that WC Final 1983 plus I am sure they won a few finals at Sharjah as well.

You forgot one additional thing. Atleast Indian’s reacjed 21 finals.I will surprised if any team other than AUS have done better during same period.Does anyone know?

I tend to agree with your wife.

You kidding me. Never have Yuvi been comfortable facing spin.

So it's a myth that subcontinental players play spin very well.

There are always exceptions.
