Re: Final decisions
they can't offer prayers in the same room, let alone come together to agree on a "final" version.
their conjecture is as good as your own.. IF you take the time to study your own religion..

Re: Final decisions
TAKE AN AL-MAGHRIB CLASS!, I would suggest the class, ‘Evolution of Fiqh’-
NOTE; these classes are taken mostly by high school students, college students, and you might also see an ‘auntie’ or ‘uncle’ taking it
They’re offered in the U.S and Canada, check out http://www.almaghrib.org/
From personal experience, this is what you’re looking for. You’ll learn the WHY WHAT WHO WHEN on that.
Re: Final decisions
No matter which and how many scholars declare their opinions on the topics you have mentioned, there will be just as many other scholars with conflicting opinions. People will follow those who agree with them. OR you can start a never ending argument over which scholar is more authentic....
Re: Final decisions
No, I disagree - its not laypeople who disagree with the scholars. Its scholars who disagree amongst themselves. And they've been disagreeing since the the day the Prophet died, starting with "Who is supposed to be the next caliph? Oh the Prophet said Ali. Oh no, the Prophet did not say Ali. Oh the Prophet said just choose. Oh no the Prophet already chose. Oh it should be from the Prophet's lineage and we should have a monarchy. Oh no, it should be voted on. Oh no some wise person should select the leader. I select you. Oh no, I select you."
Waghera waghera.
And then to top it off the early historians and scholars, SOME OF THEM, had political alliances, and since muslims were divided politically from day one, the bias crept into scholars.
I'm actually very happy that these things are not codified. If they become codified, then what is OK for some people get enforced BY STATE on everyone else.
And then we forget the golden rule of Islam - that nothing can/should be forced upon anyone.

Muslims are funny…but this kind of agree/disagree & sects hold true for all Abrahamic religions. I’m sure god must be enjoying this.
Re: Final decisions
I don't think their mullahs take it as seriously as ours.
