so what has been the reaction in pak to the targetting of security personnel? nada. zilch. media completely downplays jehadi atrocities while our politicians, instead of uniting the country behind the army, have been destablising pakistan in order to achieve their gunda political aims. politicians have a problem with musharraf - fine. but they can still support battle against jihadis while opposing musharraf. instead everyone blames musharraf for jihadism without offering any alternative solution other than to advocate breaking up cooperation with america.
Root of this "jihadism" is very much based on anti-Americanism. Pakistani govt being an ally of US is then easily seen as root of all evils (atleast in the local areas) or the target of "jihad". The politicians (mostly mullah side) are no different, they see America as the root problem hence they want govt to end alliance with US if their "help" is needed.

Right there, thats where most of our problems lie.... the tax thiefs have their reasoning for not paying tax, policemen have their excuses for taking bribes/not-enforcing-laws, jihadis have their excuses for being jihadi.... you just joined the wrong band-wagon.

Have we had democracy for as long as America did? Have our media had such long "freedom"? Things do not come out perfect right from the beginning. They are to be "blamed" but then you have to look at some of the root causes for example what is the IQ level of most "journalism" students in the Universities? What is their knowledge in the subject they are covering etc? How much input the sponsors of those media have provided for being bad? etc. American media when goes against public opinion lose their appeal and their ratings go down, this was not so in Pakistan (when it was free).
