Pakistani version of “Saturday Night Live”, but unlike SNL, Fifty Fifty could not be continued on those lines (changing the cast as required and keeping the spirit alive). Yet, the skits were definitely timeless and very funny. VCDs are available and also sell very well even today, and many sit down in front of the TV screen for a Fifty Fifty rerun to go down nostaligia lane.
Watching a rerun of 50 50, a few other things also come to mind. The conversation between two guys, Munwa and Bubua, in which they finish every joke by “Kiya Keh Raha Hai”, “Saheeh Keh Raha Hoon”, “Ajab Keh Raha hai” was quite a popular set of catch phrases. So were the “Ek Dafa Ka Zikr Hai… Eik Dafa Do Dafa?.. Ek Dafa…” and “Yattey Gattey, Yattey Gattey, Yattey Gattey” lines from an Ismail Tara character. These lines were commonly used by people in their regular conversations, quite frequently. ![]()
