Supermodel Fia Khan tied the knot with her longtime beau, Qasim Ali on Friday amongst family and friends, at Badshahi Mosque, Lahore. Clad in a Fahad Hussayn off-white cotton, farshi gharara with a huge flair along with a high-neck shirt, which had a little bit of edge but was more traditional, Fia looked radiant with Maram & Aabroo’s spot-on make-up and styling. Qasim who is a freelance photographer, wore Fahad Hussayn as well, looking handsome as ever and perfectly complementing Fia, in a white cotton jamawar kurta with the same light techniques set on Fia’s gharara. The nikah was followed by a hi-tea reception attended by Fia and Qasim’s family and close friends.
Commenting on his designer masterpiece, Fahad Hussayn while talking to Daily Times said, “Fia came to me and told me that she was getting married in Badshahi Mosque, so I wanted to make her something very traditional. I’ve known Fia for years so I know exactly what kind of a personality she is. She’s always one of those very filmy people, who want something Eastern but very dramatic at the same time. So I made her this gharara done out of cotton. I did a lot of gota for the shirt along with other embroidery with a see-through net dupatta and a cotton shawl on top of it.”
When asked how hard it was for him to make Fia look different from the bridals she has carried on the ramp, Fahad said, “You know with models, the thing is that they have worn so many bridals in their life and people have seen them in those things over and again, so it’s very difficult to give them a look in which they look different for their own weddings. So for that matter, I really wanted Fia’s own personality to shine through. She is a very happy person, so I gave her off-white to wear which is a merry colour and at the same time very Sufiyana too. So I wanted her to look nice and happy and not wear something, which is very hard to carry. I made it nice and simple so she could carry it easily on the hi-tea that followed her nikah, so it should be mobile for her.”
Commenting on Fia’s jewellery, Fahad said, “Simple as the dress was, I did not want her to look or feel less bridal, so I asked her to go for very traditional jewellery. Maram did her make-up and did an excellent job with that. The jewel pieces in her hair were perfectly visible from the net dupatta.
