My daughter will be 11 months old when we travel to Pakistan this december - Looks like the only option available is Itihad airlines as PIA is all sold out – Itihad airlines flight looks like pretty long from NYC to Mid-east. Looks like 14+ hours or so. What’s other people’s experience in terms of travelling that long flight with an infant as such? Any tips?
What’s the best way to book the flight with Itihad? Any travel agent recommendations? I already tried their website but having some troubles using it.
Anything else I should consider/do? I know this is kinda late plan but we didn’t know we were going this year till now…

Hey Roman. Try Qatar Airways if you're flying out of DC. I had a relative book last minute flight from lahore to IAD couple of days back and he was satisfied with the service.
Re: Few quesitons about travelling to Pakistan this season:
few months back my son was 11 months old went to DC frm Lahore via doha on Qatar Airways, though we had bzness class n it was nite time my son is not use to ssleep alone so all the time while sleeping he was in my lap i reclined my seat n put a cushion under his head...service was good, but a long long travel.......uff thak gai theee.
so plzz make sure abt his medicine , formula(if still not on regular milk),extra cloths in hand carry, snacks, toys etcc.
Re: Few quesitons about travelling to Pakistan this season:
Roman, if you are travelling from the DC area, I would recommend Qatar Airways. I travelled to Pakistan last month using Qatar Airways and had a very pleasant experience. I was travelling from DC to Islamabad. The flight from DC to Doha was about 12 hours. The transit at Doha was only about 2 hours and then the flight to Islamabad was about 3 hours. On the way back, the flight from Doha to DC took about 14 hours, but it was quite comfortable. Highly recommended!

Paki boy, yeh, that's the flight I'm getting. But from JFK to Doha to Lahore. From DC the price right now is around $4k / person so that's out of the question.
HSK - I'm looking at leaving after 12th Dec and coming back by 30th.

Thanks.
located in seattle, but by far the most helpful in the states, i've found. and i don't even live in seattle. They are pakistani and the guy who owns it has pretty good contacts within the airline industry.

Re: Few quesitons about travelling to Pakistan this season:
Ok, I finally booked for Qatar airlines - $1890 a person + $470 for the baby -- not too bad a deal considering there wasn't much else available + in recent times everyone was expecting tickets to be expenses anyway. Gone are the days of $1400 on PIA to Lahore.
Do book a bassinet and bluk head seat for you. When I traveeled with my baby, the bassinet was a God send.
no need for bassinet booking its always given to u widout any reservation.

Well, ,when I was travelling by PIA they said bassinets are all gone and I said, but I booked one, and there you go.Anyways you do have to book a bulkhead seat otherwise the bassinet will not fit.
Re: Few quesitons about travelling to Pakistan this season:
I was told that you can’t get the basinet reserved on qatar airways and you have to ask at the time of the boarding. Is that true? Also, they said basinet and bulkhead seat is the same thing.
Re: Few quesitons about travelling to Pakistan this season:
I guess diffrent airlines have different rules. The Bassinet Seat and the Bulk Head seat are the same but the bassinet itself is a cradle like thing to keep the baby in.
