Anyone here who’s been through FET treatment? I will be going through one soon and while initially I was told that its going to be a much simple process as compared to the IVF , they are now telling me I will be stimulated yet again from day 23 onwards of the cycle.
Keen on finding out what the experience is and what to expect. Any help will be largely appreciated pls
You don’t need to be stimulated for egg production/release, which occurs in the first half of your cycle. However, you do still need to prepare for implantation of the embryo, which is what happens in the second half of your cycle (usually with some form of progesterone, I think).
FET is simpler than an IVF because they do not stimulate the ovaries, that allows the follicles to mature and then the subsequent egg retrieval.
But there is a certain protocol for the FET.They need to suppress the natural hormones which can act on the ovaries to cause any ovulation. That if happens can mess up with the frozen embryo that is to be transferred. The most commonly used is the subcutaneous injection Lupron.Second, they need to make the uterine lining to develop and estrogen is used for that.Plus to aid in the whole implantation and maintenance of that implanted embryo in the initial weeks is the use of Progesterone. It can either be injections (intramuscular) or vaginal suppositories.
Exactly what everyone else said. I had two attempts and the third resulted in my twin girls.
You will need to do the ivf cycle if you don’t have any frozen embryos stored.
