FESCO the most efficient in the country.. yet Faisalabad the most energy starved city

Faisalabad is the manchester of Pakistan.. a major contributor (and probably the highest) exporting city of Pakistan. They remain the most power starved city in the country… a huge loss to the exports of the country is being incurred by keeping this dynamic city completely energy starved in lat four years.. a shining example of the present government’s resolve to solve economic problems of the country..

Line losses drop to 8%, bill recovery rises to 100%.
FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) Chief Executive Officer Tariq Mehmood Chattha has claimed that the company’s performance is the best among all distribution companies with low power theft and wastage and almost 100% recovery of bills.
Talking to the media here on Monday, Chattha boasted of the company’s performance, saying it achieved qualitative as well as quantitative improvement in technical, administrative and financial areas.
He said the company purchased 9,527 million units of electricity, of which 8,596 million units were sold to three million consumers in eight districts of the Faisalabad and Sargodha Division during 2010-11, thus line losses were reduced to 9.8%.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has fixed minimum line losses at 10.83%.
During this period, Fesco billed Rs74.29 billion and recovered Rs74.11 billion, with recovery percentage at 99.8%, he said.
Chattha pointed out that during the first seven months (July-January) of the current fiscal year, line losses were further reduced while the recovery ratio crossed the 100% mark.
From July-January 2011-12, Fesco purchased 5,869 million units, of which 5,399 million units were sold, indicating line losses at 8%.
During this period, a record amount of Rs52.71 billion was recovered out of the total billed amount of Rs52.36 billion, more than 100% recovery.

Re: FESCO the most efficient in the country.. yet Faisalabad the most energy starved

Thats the dilemma for faisalabad, although in other countries areas like Faisalabad should have been rewarded for generating more revenues.

Almost all the discos of Punjab especially GESCO and FESCO are very efficient, but as a result they ate not being provided with electricty. Further loss for Wapda, as the areas which are generating revenues have been ignored and the electricity is being provided to those areas instead where there are more line losses.

Same is the case with Sialkot. As a matter of fact, as you may remember, after years of government level corruption. Sialkot businessmen decided to build their own airport. On similar lines, they offered to build a dam on River Chenab to generate power, in order to supply electricity to Sialkot and its vicinity, but as usual, the govt denied it. I guess they werent getting their 10%.

For that they should rename it as Fiasco rather than Fesco............
