Fertility Clinic-Update!

Hello guppans,
So i had my first visit today, Alhamdulilah it went good. I liked my doc and nurse both  They did my progesterone level test to see that whether i have ovulated or not. Then accordingly, they will put me on provera and then on clomid. She was very hopeful as the only problem with me is the ovulation which she said is quite fixable Alhamdulilah. She was praising my OBGyn for conducting all the tests before referring me to the fertility clinic as now they can directly execute the treatment.
Thankyou everyone for the wishes and remember in prayers!

Re: Fertility Clinic-Update!

Best of luck AE.. I am glad it went well and you found a doc you liked.

@Afshi ... did your dr. say if it's better than clomid? I am asking because this new doctor I started seeing said that she'll put me on Letrozole (i think same as femara) next month. She was quite against clomid and was raving about Letrozole. btw I ahve tried clomid but it didn't work for me.. so anyway I looked it up and apparently there are mixed reviews. Some say it's better some say otherwise. Also there's a notion that it's not approved as a fertility drug but rather a breast cancer medicine... but then there are people for whom it worked. I don't know, a bit confused about this.

Re: Fertility Clinic-Update!

actually my doctor never mentioned clomid. Just Femara.

Re: Fertility Clinic-Update!

Femara is actually given to cancer patients (not sure about the purpose), but one of its side effects works for infertility. It is not made to treat infertility and I don't think it has been approved for use in that way, but I think it may not be illegal to be prescribed for that purpose, and since it seems to work, I guess people give it a try (at least before taking more extreme measures).

Clomid is not recommended to be used for more than 6 months. Also it CAN dry out your cervical mucus, and so if that's already an issue for the couple, it may not be prescribed. But usually Clomid is the first type of treatment given (OBGYN's often prescribe it before referring the patient to a specialist).
