Re: Feral Kittens
I'm pretty sure that once mama cat abandons her babies, she will not return but I doubt that it was because of your scent. Feral cats dont make the best of parents! Anyway, its a lovely idea to adopt the little billie kitty! They bring much sunshine to your life, we have a billie that we adopted, same situation - he was the baby of a feral cat who abandoned him at only a few days old. He is a REALLY funny guy, always good for a laugh - climbing to the top of the bedroom curtains and then diving down onto our bed while we're sleeping, jumping from the top of one bookcase to the top of another, getting the "kitty crazies" where he puffs up his fur and runs around the house like he's possessed by demons!
Something that you need to watch for though...our kitty always wanted to go outside and we didnt let him - at first. But he got very vindictive and angry, would not always use the kitty litter, would shred furniture covers etc. All of that stopped as soon as we let him roam a bit. He always comes back, I mean we do feed him well! But he's a real hunter. He took care of a mole problem we had, they were ruining our grass but now we dont have a single mole, mouse or other creature near our yard! He also goes after rabbits and birds. He gets all proud of himself, he brings his victim home and leaves it right by the back door like "Look Mom, I brought home some meat for us!" I dont think a cat would go after a chicken though...not sure but I'd think one sharp peck and they'd give it up.
