Feral Kittens

I found some feral kittens in our barnyard yesterday, I stroked one of them and then went away when I saw the cat coming for them. This morning I found that there’s only one kitten left.

I’m really worried that she might’ve took the other kitten and abandoned/rejected this one because of the human-scent from my hands.

I went and bought a nipple-feeder and fed it some buffalo milk, it’s a little beauty, markings like a bengal cat, black lips, aqua eyes!

What should I do? Leave it and hope mummy comes for it? Or is that not likely, in which case I’d gladly bring it into the house and bring it up as a pet, with the winter ahead of us, it’d appreciate sleeping on my bed all warm and cosy. We already have lots of pets because both me and mum like animals, the neighbours have a problem with it like, they say when our kittens get big they’ll hunt chickens which is BS because we keep our pets well fed.

Re: Feral Kittens

I'm pretty sure that once mama cat abandons her babies, she will not return but I doubt that it was because of your scent. Feral cats dont make the best of parents! Anyway, its a lovely idea to adopt the little billie kitty! They bring much sunshine to your life, we have a billie that we adopted, same situation - he was the baby of a feral cat who abandoned him at only a few days old. He is a REALLY funny guy, always good for a laugh - climbing to the top of the bedroom curtains and then diving down onto our bed while we're sleeping, jumping from the top of one bookcase to the top of another, getting the "kitty crazies" where he puffs up his fur and runs around the house like he's possessed by demons!

Something that you need to watch for though...our kitty always wanted to go outside and we didnt let him - at first. But he got very vindictive and angry, would not always use the kitty litter, would shred furniture covers etc. All of that stopped as soon as we let him roam a bit. He always comes back, I mean we do feed him well! But he's a real hunter. He took care of a mole problem we had, they were ruining our grass but now we dont have a single mole, mouse or other creature near our yard! He also goes after rabbits and birds. He gets all proud of himself, he brings his victim home and leaves it right by the back door like "Look Mom, I brought home some meat for us!" I dont think a cat would go after a chicken though...not sure but I'd think one sharp peck and they'd give it up.

Thanks for the reply Mamaof3.

This morning I took it a bottle full of milk and found it's not there anymore, I found it's sibling in another corner of the barnyard under the wheat storage unit so I fed it the milk instead.

Now I'm confused, has mummy decided to take it on an outing today like it had done its sibling yesterday?

I'd love to adopt them but will mummy not pine for them?

We already have a cat, she's a real beauty but she's my mom's lil baby, I so want my own kitten.

Our cat does that a lot too, she brings wall-lizards, frogs, field-mice, grasshoppers… :yummy:

Re: Feral Kittens

i dreamt i was a kitten. :aq:

Good news guys! This morning I found both the kittens and their amma playing in the barnyard, I'm glad she hadn't abandoned the lil thing.

As much as I'd like to kidnap the little angels and bring them up myself by bottle feeding them I haven't got the heart to seperate them from their ammi.

I blended some raw eggs and milk together and left it there in my Moti's (our doggy) bowl and drank it all up, I'm only feeding her so that she can produce healthy hearty milk for her adorable lil ones.
