If some thread sounds morbid to you then simply don’t open it. Personally I like morbidness every now and then and would like to share with others who feel the same… what’s wrong with that? ![]()
Re: Femme…
Perhaps, it’s the fear of not accepting the reality sometimes… It is hurtful but a bitter fact of life… The sooner we know, a better person we can become :insha:
Re: Femme...
Roman kithay si veera :( I love you now after so many years again :(
and the reason for this maska is that I have the same opinion, I replied in detail in that so called 'morbidly' closed thread just before it was closed, and which is now summarized by AQ v well...
ehh, so many heads are alike :s
Re: Femme...
Its got nothing to do with accepting reality, no one is in denial of death. So you guys want to compile a list of dead guppies? what does that accomplish? usually new births, illness, death are all announced at GS by friends/families. If you fear for someone why not at least mention names so if anyone is aware of their whereabouts they can inform us? Or do you suggest we leave the thread so we can create our very own death register?

Re: Femme…
It will accomplish many things and many rewards for everyone here… I have suggested this idea (not publically) though have not recieved a reply to it (and perhaps never will) but since you asked, what I had said was
Gupshup Management can think of creating a read only Forum perhaps managed by the administration or atleast a thread… where list of known-deceased members be posted with link to their nicks… perhaps a synopsis provided by those who had previlige to know him/her as an online user or an offline friend…
Perhaps, that way, we can always remember them and make a dua everyday for all of them after visiting that section…
Just a thought ran in my mind… Who knows if my name is there one day and perhaps I will be benefited with the dua of someone…
Prophet:saw: said: **Hearts get rusted too just like your swords get rusted… **Companions asked: *Oh prophet of Allahj (:saw: ): when our swords get rusted we rub them and make them shinning again. Is there anything that can be done *
about hearts.
Prophet:saw: replied: Read Quran and remember your death.
Re: Femme…
Femme, it will accomplish exactly what any other average thread on GS accomplishes..allow people to talk or connect or discuss. Or you think there is a greater purpose any thread on GS serves that such topic will fail to?? I can’t see how it WON’T accomplish anything.
I mean you don’t have to agree with this as a MEMBER but as a moderator you can’t impose your sense of accomplishment or importance of a thread while there seem to be others who see the appropriateness of such a topic.
Re: Femme...
I'm sure it'll accomplish something , the question is, at whose expense? People can randomly claim that so and so is no more, who is going to verify it? Who holds the ulitmate authority? What would be the stardard procedure for any such effort? It better be a fool proof one since it's a huge responsibility to declare someone dead. If I am the guppy in question, I surely wouldn't appreciate any such discussion on me. It's insensitive and can lead to speculations/ rumors that can quickly get out of hand. Bad idea. Too much hassle and too many potential risks for little or no gain. There are far easier ways of remembering one's own< death. And as for making duaein, how about we do it everytime we remember someone missing?
Re: Femme…
I agree Geek.
The rest of you, i’ll bring it up with other mods and administration and see what they have to say.

Re: Femme...
Ok guys, your suggestion has been brought up in the Moderators forum and every one there seems to agree upon the fact that authenticating someone’s death is a difficult task on an online board. Unless a reliable guppy personally knew the deceased guppy in person we run the risk of error. Opening up threads based upon misinformation can bring GS a lot of negative publicity. Such an incident has happened in the past where a thread was opened in café announcing someone’s death and later on it turned out to be a false rumour as the person came back to GS to tell us that he was alive and kicking! If anyone thinks he has an idea to make this fool-proof kindly contact the administration.
As said before whenever we found out about a guppies demise through confirmed sources a thread is put up in his/her honour where everyone adds their comments, prayers and tributes. Having dedicated threads to each deceased guppy is better than lumping everyone together in one thread like AQ suggested.
If you still disagree feel free to contact the administration.
