Feminism

Yup… yet another thread on it.

When people think of BarbieCue, one thing they certainly don’t associate with the username is feminism. Yet I am one. A real strong one!

My feminism is about standing up for women’s rights. And I keep this ideology of mine to myself unless I see someone clearly abusing a woman, whether its physically, emotionally, financially or whatever. Thats when I wouldn’t be scared one bit to stand up in the middle of a crowd and speak up against whoever is interfering with a woman’s rights.

Shouting like a deranged person, hating all men, and being rude doesn’t really mean feminism, does it?

As a woman myself, I don’t need atheists to “protect” me from islam because its oh so ugly for women. Where are the feminists when my rights about choosing my way of life are being snatched away? Biased much?

If feminism does mean being a mun-phat rude woman, if it does mean that I should hate my dad my uncles my brother and all other men on this planet, and if it does mean going against religion, then its not for me. I am extremely happy with my life, (Alhumdulillah) I don’t need “feminists” and certainly not atheists to tell me how I should live my life, thank you very much.

PS: This thread is not directed at anyone on GS… so relax!

tell that to coughpcgcough

:k: well said.

On the topic of feminism, I hate MEN (oOoo shocker) who act feminine.

TLK bhai: Again, its not directed at anyone here. The fact that I took the time out of revising for my exam to open this thread does suggest something happened that made me discuss it here.

I don't think I'll be able to keep up with the posts here so if I don't reply plz don't think i'm being rude.

Re: Feminism

I think someone has hacked BBq's account

There is no one universal practice of feminism - every picks and chooses from the principles espoused. If you're a feminist - great, if you're not - no big deal. But what's not aright is to judge everyone by the actions of a few and stereotype all feminists.

Kinzzzyyyyyy mwah mwah mwah I micchhh uuuuu  Kuch nahin yar, pagal log bus.

TLK bhai should I attempt a bejamalo stunt if ur suspicious?

I've made this comment before - **feminism and Islam are mutually contradictory. **Not only that, but there are feminists who are not Muslims but respect Muslim women's choices and beliefs and will support Muslim women in their personal causes.
[/QUOTE]

Feminism and Islam are contradictory. Thats what makes me wonder. Feminism isn't about going against religion and saying but why oh why should a woman have to wrap a thing around her head?

Feminism is about saying u can't force her to do that. And when a woman chooses to do so, its about saying u can't force her to not do that.

Right?

My bad - major typo - meant to say that feminism and Islam are NOT mutually contradictory. The difference a single word can make.

Now that I've corrected what I wrote - feminism as I accept it for myself, is about choices, opportunities and access. I should not be denied choices, opportunities or access based on my gender, race or religion.

^ exactly.

Awwwww   Mwaah mwaahhh :hugz:.. kaha chali gaee thee Micched you alot

Re: Feminism

I hope you pray at the alter of emily P who chained herself so that you would be given the right to speak, write and think.

I hope you thank the feminists who broke down barriers so that you were allowed to even have an opinion.

Other than that, I agree with you. Women should wear what they want. It is a clash of schools of thought. Feminism is the greatest emancipation movement that the world has ever seen. we should not forget. In that light, the disagreements are smild esp when compared to what the sunni/shias propestants/catholics are doing to one another.

That is the difference between men and women you see. Women don a headscarf. Men slaughter innocents. I guess its a weak, genetic thing.

Where o where are these feminists now? I'm not asking for feminists to start chaining themselves for other women. But why are they not speaking up when the rights of muslim women are clearly being snatched away?? And btw, islam gave us these rights before emily and others did. So as much as I respect these feminists, I respect the religion too.

Thank you.
