Sarah Jane Dias crowned Miss India

MUMBAI: Mumbai girl Sarah Jane Dias was crowned ‘Miss India World’, Puja Gupta ‘Miss India Universe’ and Puja Chitgopekar ‘Miss India Earth’ at a glittering awards function of the coveted beauty pageant on Sunday night.
Sarah, who is a Veejay and a model, won the title beating 24 other contestants in the finals of the event.
The first runner-up was Puja Gupta and Puja Chitgopekar the second runner-up, an official of the event organiser Pantaloons said.
He said the pageant this year had decided to declare the ‘Miss India World’ as the official winner.
The event was judged by several celebraties including Bollywood actors Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, director Subhash Ghai and model Ujwalla Raut and went for almost two-and-a-half hours.
In the final round, the five finalists had to answer to the question - “If you had to convince a rural woman to participate in the Miss India contest, how would you do it?”
The paegent was interspersed with performances by actors Tushhar Kapoor, Koena Mitra and Lara Dutta.
i saw a lil of this special show on sony abt a week ago where sajid interviewd all the contestants and when i saw sarah i was positive she wud win n she did.......but just 2day while i was watchig the show...i only watched the last 20 mins...i was confused when they announced miss india universe b4 miss india world...i thought they had made a mistake...but this article does tell that they have apparently changed their ratings ....meaning miss india world wl be the 1st winner....i wonder y they did that...also y was neha kapur the ex miss india universe didnt show up...instead they got priyanka 2 do the crowning for miss india world....newayz i m really curious y the changed their rules...lol! btw priyanka was lukin really nice.
they look like pakistanis to u? I find pakistani girls to be really gorgeous and FYI I am an Indian and these girls dont look Pakistani to me by any stretch of imagination.
Man if Pakistan competed in the Miss Universe and Miss World Pagents we would have won it a lot of times....
The miss india girls are not models. Majority of them are engineers or other vocational students and have nothing to do with modelling..
Sarah jane won cause she was already a veejay and was at ease in front of people and camera. Confidence is what they were looking for.
Pooja C is not good looking there are others who were better. I wonder what made her win.. probably her answers.. God knows..
I think out of all of them the only one that was a model before was Shipra Mallik all the others were working in other professions before doing miss india
