When there is a blood requirement for patient, Only Males are considered for donation.
We desi never consider females for any blood donation. Is there any cultural, social or medical reason behind this ?
Omg, i was just thinking of this today, if i should donate blood or not..
i would but i dont know if im healthy enough.. if that matters ![]()
yea i would i guess.
I think desis think women are weak, thats why?
hmmm...i dont think its for medical reasons...i think its mostly cultural... :)
You can judge it better if you are heathy enough or not. But if you are doing for first time then ask some doctor.![]()

Yeah, u reckon?.. but i guess they would do a test before taking blood..
these days australian red cross is running a campaign, and its on all met cards(tickets), thats what got me thinking about it. :)
ta.
I've donated blood many times..but if my mom knew she'd kill me..coz well I'm anemic and I DO feel a lil dizzy...
But it's cool..they say it's good for your body to give blood...coz then you generate fresh blood.
As for whether you're healthy or not..the blood donation people check that out...you have a lil pre test done (just a few secs ) and they weigh you..so if you're underweight then stay away :D
I've never donated blood ...once ppl from a medical college came to collect blood in our college ....n all of students were forced by authorities to go there.....some docs there were checking evryones bp, weight etc. ....when mine was checked doctor offered me to have a bag or two from what was donated by my fellows :D
well , i dunno exactly why ....but usually females in pakistan r mostly anaemic
anyway my mother donated it once despite anaemea ....n my father has donated many times
Its the opposite for me.....I've donated blood regularly since I was 18, while my husband is totally freaked out by anything to do with needles or injections.
it's just another utterance of desi males to suppress females.
no medical reason at all to restrain healthy women from donating blood.
simple culrural thingy.I mean they think women r weak and/or its just not heard of.However in a medical point of view, and female healthy enough to donate can.
Anyone who is in good health, is at least 18 years old (persons 17 years old may donate with a parental consent form signed by a legal guardian), and weighs at least 110 pounds may donate blood every 56 days.
Some health conditions or medications may temporarily or permanently prevent persons from donating blood. The Food and Drug Administration regulates all blood centers and establishes the eligibility guidelines.
its cultural i believe. although when needed , females in my family have donated blood to relatives or friends.
except me :D i am scared of needles.. shivers
we prefer to give money, not blood ![]()
prex’ blood is copyright protected ![]()
One of my doctor cousins says that the amount of blood a person donates is generated within 10 minutes by the human body. Is it true?

I think it is exaggeration. It may take trom 3 to 4 months to fully reproduce the blood.
Donating Blood
Lots of pakistani women are un-educated so they don't know how to look after themselves properly. It's not only that they don't know how to look after themselves properly but they also have got lots and lots of worries (financial, kids education and so on)plus hell of lots of work especially women in villages. Lots of them die in labour due to not going to maternity hospitals. It's because they can't afford it and the ones can afford you don't find many hospitals and doctors an nurses are not qualified.
These days young gals are anaemic because they are looking after their figure. They go to extreme when they are on diet. One of my cousin was on diet and she was feeling dizzy all the time because she wasn't eating anything all for good few hours and I am sure she is anaemic as well.
I think most who are above 14 they are anaemic because time of the month correct me if I am wrong.
Take care everyone
