I am looking to find a female wedding photographer. This photographer wouldn’t necessarily take photos for the entire wedding event (though it can be worked into a whole package) but would be taking private wedding photos of the bride without her hijaab.
The wedding would be in Indianapolis in late summer. If you guys know of anyone, please post the contact info.
Presumably the female photographer will not only have to take the pictures, but will develop them on her own, without the help from any males, to preserve the sanctity of hijaab. Sounds like more than just taking pictures, so good luck finding one.
yaar... we actually have found one but its an American photographer and the bride prefers to have a desi photgrapher since she'll be more in tune with the desi motif.
Its her day so we wanna do all we can to make sure she gets everything done the way she wants it...
Intersting… i hope she finds it… if she doesn’t, she’ll just do w/o photographs??
This reminds me of a wedding I went to…they made a big show of kicking the guys out and then the girls started dancing for the bride…while the groom was there…while the DJ was playign the music…while the waiters kept going in and out of the rooms…while the lil kids kept going in andout, thus leaving the door open and letting teh guys see anyway…
unless they plan to hire one who'll give them the digital negatives and they'd print them out on their printer at home, there will be some na-mehrum involved at some stage..
come to think of it .. i haven't heard of a single desi female photographer.. but a smart desi photographer would hire a female assistant just to get those few bay parda shots.... why don't u suggest that to the regular photographer?
here in bahrain, most of the top studios r run and handled by females....
and most party/wedding photographers r females....
but with digital cameras becoming a norm, i think ppl shud just rent one good digital camera and forget the photographer completely....
shoot ur own pics as u like them....
here in bahrain they print one postcard picture by 0.1 BD (around 25 cents) which is very good....
Well.. the bride realizes the limitation of being in US since she has had her family photos developed without her hijaab on before.
Having said that, I think it has more to do with being without her hijaab infront of a na-mehraam than having na-mehraam develop her photos This becomes even more sensitive if she has to pose for her wedding photos in front of a na-mehraam. So yes, ideally the photos and developing should be done by female in this case but knowing full well the limited options, she's trying to come as close as she can to do what makes her comfortable and yet still preserve memories that she can cherish from this important day in her life.
syed’s studio did my sister’s wedding video and photographs…Pictures were okay but they messed up the video completely…Plus the movie was of poor quality…Didn’t like it at ALL…Thank God we recorded the wedding on our JVC camcorder and it came out much better than their crappy video…I would never ever recommend them to anyone!
Just wanted to share that I am a professional female photographer in Chicago. I've worked and trained with a professional for about 5 years and have done both Desi and Western weddings.
And btw Ghalib - I also wear hijab so I can understand your sister's desire to have a female photographer.
If you are still looking for a photographer for her wedding, let me know.
