Female Pakistani PhD's?

I know there are some out there. Anybody has any statistics on this though? What fields are they in, where did they go to school, what do they do now etc? Any info? Any famous names?

Thanks.

I know one of our professor, she did her PhD from Australia and just because her husband was a Phd too, he kept her pushing to go for one too.

lolz :D what did she do her phd in?

I knew one too, a really nice teacher, Dr. Fauzia Zia, who did her PhD from Upenn. She taught in EME, NUST, and sadly she she left Pakistan due to an incident involving our beloved military. The commandant of E&ME's son was given an F grade in his 'signals and systems' class, and he made sure that using his dads connections (which went high above till musharraf) she was forced to leave the college.

Saby, the same guy was also responsible in driving Dr. Maud away from E&ME too.

My cousin has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Manchester, and the story goes much like saby's... her husband had a Ph.D. in Physics and both of them ended up in academia.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's wife, Kulsoom Nawaz was also awarded a PhD in Punjabi (?). Although later the two professors who had written her thesis, confessed, so I guess we shouldn't hold her up as a role model. It was good while it lasted.

ewwwww, jerks like him are responsible for stalls in our developments.

Spock that is indeed very sad and unfortunate :frowning:

Umar Talib thats cool…I am thinking of doing a PhD in Religious Studies..I never thought i would ever do a phd but im thinking abt it right now, haven’t decided though…

Faisal bhai omg :rotfl: thats hilarious :rotfl: wiasae why did she need the degree in the first place?

saby heheheh thats sweet  waisae i feel bad for her, being forced to do a phd in a sciencey subject without wanting to do it can be quite an ordeal i reckon

not exactly Pakistani, but my dad's maternal aunt completed a Ph.D. in Urdu long time ago from India.

Its mostly related to B2B and SAP technologies. Its a dry field of research in my opinion but Madam said she enjoyed it a lot.
