Any recommendation for a female OB/GYN in Mississauga? Alhamdolillah, we are expecting another child and searching for OB/GYN in Mississauga area. Also, does any OB/GYN makes sure (or at least tries) to be there at the delivery time?
We are also open about the hospital as we first want to know of a good OB/GYN (and her availability for delivery). Do you (or anyone for that matter) know of a hospital that offers a choice? The closest hospital is Credit Valley, however, Trillium isn’t that far either for us.
As far as I know, Credit Valley does not offer a choice. There you are required to register with a “group” of doctors and whomever is available for your appointments and delivery will attend.
Often they try to schedule your check-ups with the attending physician but the delivery is definitely not guaranteed.
So how exactly does it work in then? We choose a doctor and ask the GP to refer us or choose a hospital first and then just meet their panel every appointment?
Does anyone have any experience with Joseph Brant Hospital? And how is the panel at Credit Valley?
As a hostpital, Credit Valley is really, really good - speaking from family experience, they chose CV and the care received from the nurses and doctors there was very much appreciated.
And what the other ladies said - your OBGYN might be a woman and you may be anle to schedule all of your appointments with her (even within a larger gyno practice). But if she’s not on call the day you deliver, there’s no guarantee that the doctor attending you will be a woman and as far as I know, you cannot “pick” to only allow a woman doctor to deliver your child - it’s whoever is there.
Don’t know about Canada much, but can you choose an all woman group? I am in the USA and I chose an all woman group so that whoever would be on duty that day would be a female doctor.
In Mississauga there is no such group available. The two hospitals, Trillium and Credit Valley both have groups that contain both male and female obstetricians.
