Sister Dushwari, you have started a good topic, but it is incomplete. In my humble opinion it would have been better if the topic had been presented in the following way. (Though I might be totally wrong)

Now it seems a bit balanced, if we don't consider the exceptional cases. In fact in most of the Islamic countries today such thoughts are present. Though I agree that men might be relatively more than women in this catagory, there is another catagory where you might find women more than men. Which is;
In some cases they allow them to join such professions, it is alot of times due to "money and popularity", which is equally bad.
