**There is nothing wrong with having a civilized discussion about this topic as long as we can refrain from getting graphic and/or vulgar. It may not sit well in your stomach but the fact remains that it is an issue of worldwide concern. Like Oprah once said in regards to this topic "what effects some of us effects the whole of us".

Although GS is and always shall be running under a Pakistani flag, the discussions here encompass global views, for a multitude of reasons. I participate in the World Affairs forum and we discuss stuff that does not even pertain to Pakistan, but in a way that helps us envision the same issues, geopolitically. This isnt Life1 in Pakistan, its life1 in general. Even if that is not relevant, he has not broken any rules by discussing a taboo topic; I don't think he has any sinister intentions.

On the contrary, many of us here are citizens of the above mentioned influential countries, and can exert pressure on our elected officials to bring about more awareness. Even if that's not possible, we can all play our part by merely educating ourselves about such societal injustices.

It may not be about sex but it is about a part of a female body that is used in sex.

I take it you are a female, so without being sexual, it will be ok with you if I discuss attributes of your v**a in public forum because trust me that is the **issue of worldwide concern for men (here comes an other infraction....:))

No we have not. These issues are part of life, and life is relentless, nothing ever stops happening. If it happened a hundred years ago, it happens now too. Surely you know that.

There isnt much harm is discussing how/why/whats of any issue. I mean if we can discuss women who cant tell the time and men who dont understand no, why cant we discuss female circumcision?

For the life of me, I cannot fathom why people get their hackles raised when other people discuss a topic that is too sensitive for them.

If this is a topic you do not wish to hear about - don't click on this thread, and don't read any further. You're only going to get offended if YOU choose to click on something that you already know is not within your comfort zone.

guys, pardon me for my ignorance and innocence both... i have read articles in mags abt this but honestly, i have never understood exactly WHAT they cut off from the girls pvt parts. i know the ans wud b explicit but i really wanna know... cus i dun understand what the hell they are talkin abt when they say mutilation. i really wish this was an 'ahem ahem, female thread' so i cud better understand the meaning.
