female foeticide

ASA Guys and Galz,
As it is states in the title of the topic. I wanted to discuss ‘female foeticide’, for those of you who do not know what this is here is a link to the article I read which explained the main points:

This topic is quite popular in India at the moment due to Bollywood Film actor Amir Khan supporting a charity for this to be stopped.
I don’t think this is only in India I am pretty sure this happens in Bangladesh and Pakistan even. So, what do u guys think? Is this fair? Has it ever happened to anyone you know?
How should we help tackle this problem? I think even in this day and age we still have people who think a girl being born is a huge burden on the parents.. I think a daughter would look after the parents and care about them more than a son ever would…
So guppies please share your views, advice and opinions on this topic. It will be highly appreciated.

Shukria

Offcourse its a terrible problem happens all over the world. We should all do whatever is in our power to tackle the issue and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Re: female foeticide

It is horrible! I saw that episode of Aamir Khan's show .. I really admire him for shedding light on topics such as this.
People need to be educated about this. A girl is viewed upon as a burden in India and Pakistan. If she has brothers, the brothers get fed first. The girl gets what ever is left. The boys get sent to school while girls are suppose to be home and learn 'ghar ke kaam'. At time of marriage dahej is big problem! Some parents cannot afford it and have to sell everything they own. It's awful ..
But sometimes it's like who can blame them? Imagine a poor family who can't even eat 2 waqt ki roti, ofc they're gonna demand dahej when their son gets married. It's like a chain reaction.. all the other things will have to be fixed! I think asking dahej and stuff like that should be illegal, if it isn't already.

Poor baby girls shouldn't have to lose their life's because of these things. They have a right to live like anyone else has.
