There is no such thing as female circumcision in Islam.

Re: female circumsiction in pakistan and is it islamic?

its NOT islamic. nothing to do with islam...must be a thing from the era of jaahiliya...its mutilation of body which is Haraam in Islam, plain N simple!

Re: female circumsiction in pakistan and is it islamic?

First of all it is not happening in Pakistan, The most effected countries are Ethopia, Sudan and somalia region. Even there it is more popular in non-muslim tribes then Muslims. The muslims in that area do it due to culture.

Re: female circumsiction in pakistan and is it islamic?

Female circumsiction is also common in certain areas of Indonesia. I dont think female circumsiction is encouraged in Pakistan

Re: female circumsiction in pakistan and is it islamic?

circumsiction of males is mandatory in Islam, there is no question of females circumsiction no way.

:konfused: If mutilation of body is forbidden in Islam, why is male circumcision mandatory ? Isn’t that mutilation of body too ??

Re: female circumsiction in pakistan and is it islamic?

Yeh now someone tell him why it is mandatory :chai:

finish ur tea and tell him urself … lols

Male circumcision is mandatory in both Islam and Judaism (Mosaic Law). Allah knows best what are all the reasons behind its being mandatory but many health benefits are now being attributed to this. for instance, better protection from infections and even cancers.

Thanks ! Yes, I have heard about the medical benefits too...

My question was around the apparent contradiction in the statements made by the two guppies :)

Re: female circumsiction in pakistan and is it islamic?

While the exact origin of female circumcision is not known, **“it preceded Christianity **and Islam.” [1] The most radical form of female circumcision (infibulation) is known as the **Pharaonic **Procedure. This may signify that it may have been practiced long before the rise of Islam, Christianity and possibly Judaism. It is not clear, however, whether this practice originated in Egypt or in some other African countries then spread to Egypt. [2] It is common knowledge that in some countries like Egypt, female circumcision has been **practiced by both Muslims **and Christians. [3] In the meantime, this practice is not known in most Muslim countries including Iraq, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. [4] This leads to the conclusion that **female circumcision is connected **with cultural practices rather than with Islam itself as a world religion. It was made clear in the introduction of this book that some cultural practices, whether by Muslims alone or Muslims and others (such as the case with female circumcision), are not part of Islam and in some instances may violate its teachings as embodied in its primary sources, Qur’an and Hadeeth. These sources are examined next.

Its not mandatory. Its a sunnat. Mandatory is the stuff that if you dont do that, there is a fear that you are no longer a Muslim. Male circumcision does not come under that.
