Feeling guilty about spending and saving money!

Re: Feeling guilty about spending and saving money!

seriously i have only two days to go out....during the week... i am so bzy plus by the time i get off frm wrk....stores r almost closed..... so i put off my shopping till the weekend....

but couple of months ago i realized i was spending money like crazy and buying all the things that i dont really need....

so now what i do is aviod going out on the weekends and if i do purposly leave my debt/credit cards at home.....so i have saved up gud amount of money....

i think i should go out this weekend to blow up my savings ;) lolsss

Re: Feeling guilty about spending and saving money!

What I do is to set me a limit each month that I spend on myself!

Sometimes I go over that limit and sometimes I really have to pinch myself for not spending extra money.

But back to the example u gave hair coloured .. its a good one, what I do is that I dont go to the fancy salon to get my hair coloured but to a less buget one and get it done in half the amount and the quality is so good as any normal fancy salon, the thing is at the less buget one they will not ask u for cofee or extra rolyal treatment, its just go and get ur hair dyed and cut and clean and dried and go and pay half less than what u would go at those fancy salons, but the quality of the work is just as good ... so thats when i dont feel gulity about spending money.

Re: Feeling guilty about spending and saving money!

I used to worry about that until my friend passed away at a young age. That's when it hit me. Why worry over a future we have no idea will even come. Now, I always make sure I spend money on myself, my friends, family and loved ones. I do save money as well but only for short-term goals like paying my loan next yr or smtng.

Re: Feeling guilty about spending and saving money!

^ i have a similar perspective.

Re: Feeling guilty about spending and saving money!

i used to save then found out that spending the money to improves your life now then later is wiser.

you could save and save forever and still not improve the present, life is short live to the full.
that my philosophy

Re: Feeling guilty about spending and saving money!

I always feel guilty too like i just bought all this stuff for myself cuz i got such good deals but now I feel so bad because I know there are people in my family going through difficult financial situations :bummer:

Re: Feeling guilty about spending and saving money!

instead of saving l look for ways to earn more and spend more. I hardly save something from one month to carry to next one. :( pathetic but thats the way I am. may be in future i earn even more and my other half start working, then we will think to save :)

when spending I do care, i research what i need to buy. I buy less but only a top quality satisfy me. mostly buy online to save money... to buy something else.

but looking back, while i havnt been saving... i managed to buy a house in UK, got married, built a nice house in Pak, and paid for two cars here and in Pak in recent years, and keep equiping with dadgets every now and then, so no wonder I dont have savings.

i think i dont waste money, but spend it always but smartly to have more for money!

Re: Feeling guilty about spending and saving money!

Me and my husband are both in med school right now so our financial support comes from both his parents and my parents.

I have a real bad habit of spending money on.......FOOD...i get cravings all the time..i will eat and 2 hours later starve again! I think it might be my hyper metabolism but nevertheless it causes me to splurge on anything from gyros, to candy bars, to mikshakes...the list goes on!

no you shouldnt feel guilty aslong as you pay zakat every year and dont worry about your future kids because your duty towards them is to give love food clothes roof over their head and good manners, good education and knowlege of deen islaam and not lump sum of money at the end because they should learn to earn money and stand on their own two feet thats how i think. you said something about colouring yor hair well you can as long as you cover them when your out
