i’m not here to defend his statement. i would not have said that, cause i dont think so. and because i think he sometimes does or says unwise things. but this time i was and am impressed how he carried himself on field and in interviews and how he led the team. that is why everyone praised him.
i dont think he has issues with indians or hindus. he does not use the word hindu, he says, we muslims, pakistanis (he corrects himself) have bigger heart than them…
u can not ignore his other statements and i have seen some of his interviews, where he only has praise for indians and their team. the press conference at his home says it all. he defends indians strongly. so why would he hate them. here are some other links.

u have to understand the context and why he has said that. i just came to the conclusion, that these statements come from disappointment. the situation for pakistanis has changed after mumbay. the attitude towards them is not the same anymore. perhaps indians respect pakistanis and the team, but he might had felt a hidden (subliminal) rejection/dislike. the “problem” with afridi is, he seems to be honest and straightforward. has no double-standard, says & shows what is in his heart. he may not have seen this from the indians.
his point is sadly proven by ghambirs comments, the speaches of dhoni and tendulkar after the match, no word of praise or congratulation for pakistan (normally i’m not, but this time i was disappointed by this). but what afridi on the other hand said in his speech, everyone knows. then there is the media, which clearly shows pakistanis are not welcomed.
that is what he says, its about the heart. agar unka dil pakistaniun ke liye saaf hota, to player ya aksar media kuch positive pakistaniun ke liye our unki performance ke bare mein kehte. i know there are good articles in indian media and also some indian celebritys said really nice things (read comments on twitter ;-))

p.s.: to say he is a racist bigot goes really too far.

I do not condone the so felt (by the Pakistanis) of the lack of respect by the Indians.

However, respect must neither be expected not demanded.

Respect should be commanded.

As such if the Pakistanis in General and the Pakistani Cricket Team in Particular have been faced with Disrespect or Disregard then they have the Mighty Tool of “Refusal”

If Pakistanis take a stand of not visiting India, not joining the IPL, not inviting the Indian Teams especially the Cricket Team until the Pakistanis are shown the proper respect which their station commands, then I am sure either the Indians will clarify that they have not meant any disrespect or they will suffer from the Refusal of the Pakistan Cricketers to Tour India or play in the IPL.

That is the way to get the respect you and your Teams deserve.
