Re: Feeling genuinely sorry for Pakistani fans…
Ehsan Bhai,
At the start let me assure you that we Indians usually supported Pakistan EXCEPT against India right up to the mid Nineties even though quite an appreciable number of my Dear Pakistani Friends were honest enough to state that generally as Pakistanis they would support anybody but India.
The whole situation changed in 1998 – 1999 period for reasons you know and now I feel sad that the Indians are matching their Pakistani Brothers in their – shall we call it – Jingoism.
Sri Lanka Cricket Board, I believe, has supported Pakistan as they were in need of “Earnings”. Sri Lanka Players participating in the IPL has changed the scenario and now even they, in light the Lahore Attack, are reluctant to do so.
The Indian Team not visiting Pakistan is no way attributable to the Indian People but the problem remains with the “Safety” – due to the present conditions prevailing in Pakistan – of the Players as I am sure you will agree that nobody will Insure the Cricket Players against harm from an incident similar to the one, which the Sri Lanka Team experienced in Lahore. Should anyone be willing to insure them then I am sure it will be at Astronomical Premiums.
I am sure that the Pakistani Authorities are fully capable of removing the “Obnoxious Elements” should they so desire.
Old saying “Where there is a Will………”
At the end of the day the people of our two countries will win as if not now then say within Two or Three Years the prevailing situation will most definitely be remedied.
As you Muslims say “INSHA ALLAH”.
