Feeding Products

first time round with munchkin, i had a pretty hard time with feeding her… encountered mastitis 4 time sin 4.5 months…

im determiend to get it right this time round… and was wondering whether there was anything that assisted you awesome mothers.

For example, Ive been looking at breastfeeding cushions, breastfeeding coverups (considering munchkin will be around all the time while im feeding, and other people may pop into the room uninvited.. )

Is it any point in getting these?

does the cushion assist in anyway more than a pillow?

does the coverup assist more than a shawl?

Yes u need something under bubba so you don't slouch. For both my kids I propped them with big pillows and it worked just as well.as the breastfeeding pillows.

I got a custommade cover for breastfeeding coz the ones available did show some skin. It is.like a skirt that u just pull over your head and since it is elastic you can pull it up and fix things inside with bubba and pop your head out and have a conversation . Ppl don't get uncomfortable and you aee completely covered too.
Another piece of advice I usually either wear button down shirts when going out or when I'm home I get suits that have front openings either with zippers or buttons. That way I don't have to lift the shirt up, I just put on the nursing cover, unzip and baby is easily and discreetly fed.

re: Feeding Products

i liked the boppy pillow, but it wasn't great until she was like 3-4 months, cuz she was too small for it to position right.

are you planning to pump? the medela pump was good (pump in style). i also got a top that holds both of the pumps in place (essentially an over-priced fitted tank with holes). that made life a lot easier.

Re: Feeding Products

thanks autumn and sahar..

im not sure whether im planning to pump just yet... with munchkin i did get the pigeo electric pump but have lost the charger :( my sister had the madela one and said it worked really well...

so u guys think the pillow is useless? Im wondering whether to get one or not....

in regards to the coverup, I hav seen a few different styles.. I'll post a pic of the two I have seen... if you can recommend one thats better, that'd be great :)

Re: Feeding Products

I used the pillow. I liked it, better than a regular pillow (which would not stay in place comfortably).

I loved the boppy. It made breastfeeding sooo much easier. The pillow never stayed in place and wasn’t firm enough. Plus I would still slouch with a pillow and the boppy made me sit straight. I used it during every nursing session right upto 4 months even in the middle of the night.

I had this nursing cover Bebe au Lait Shop: Papillon Nursing Cover but honestly the only time I used it was on the plane during the flight. Otherwise I would always just nurse in a separate room or the car. Plus my baby hates it and would always pull it off.

I got the Medela pump in style and it’s amazing. Too bad I didn’t get enough use out of it because my lovely daughter refused a bottle completely after 6 weeks :frowning:

Other than that I’m sure you already know about the nursing pads and the lanolin cream.

Re: Feeding Products

cherry, what was ur “boppy pillow” like? is it like the one i posted above?

in regards to the coverup, this is the one im thinknig of:

and only because im sure munchkni is going to being popping her head in all the time and i dont wanna be exposed infront of her.. sigh its a bit different this time round..

and yeap, know about the creams… my only relief for the first few weeks!

Re: Feeding Products

Sadzz this is the one I had

Cottony Cute - Sweet Pea, The Boppy Shop

It helped me out so much that it’s one of my most recommended baby products!

Re: Feeding Products

i used the “my brestfriend” pillow and it was amazing! kept baby in place even when she was tiny. my hubby even used it to hold baby when bottle feeding.

i also bought the Bebe au Lait Shop: Papillon Nursing Cover but agree that its not worth spending money on. just use a shawl or like autumne mentioned…get a custom made “skirt” with elastic.
